CHAPTER 151: Misunderstanding

Sexual content warning.

When they returned to their residence, the sky was already turning light. Ji Lingyue walked ahead, holding Lan Wu’s hand. “Should we go and test Chu Jiao?”

“It’s best to leave that to the sect leaders,” Lan Wu said, recalling the expressions of the sect leaders earlier. She sighed, “As expected, even knowing about the hatred between the Demon Queen and Penglai, they still can’t believe that Penglai was involved in Wangliang City.”

Ji Lingyue lowered her gaze, saying softly, “Imprisoning merfolk to extract their blood for power may sound despicable, but to cultivators, it’s not considered to be something unforgivably evil. After all…” She paused, then continued, “In their eyes, merfolk are just another type of demon. There’s no need for sympathy. If they had the chance, they might be tempted to do the same.”

Lan Wu pursed her lips, muttering, “Only if we prove that the destruction of Wangliang City was Penglai’s doing will they take it seriously.”

“Exactly,” Ji Lingyue said, pushing the door open and stepping inside, “You don’t know pain until you’re cut. Fortunately, we have the tragic state of Qing Zibai’s destroyed spiritual sea, and Miss Qi’s testimony, that should be enough to make them suspicious.”

Hearing this, Lan Wu couldn’t help but laugh. “In that case, we should thank Miss Qi for secretly following us. Otherwise, dragging the injured Qing Zibai back would have left us with no way to explain ourselves.”

Ji Lingyue pouted. “That’s what happens when you’re a demon.”

Lan Wu chuckled, reaching out to pinch Ji Lingyue’s nose, but the moment she moved, she hissed in pain.

Ji Lingyue froze, quickly rolling up Lan Wu’s sleeve to examine her forearm. There were several dark red fingerprints, already turning purple. Lan Wu sighed. “That Qing Zibai, even when his wrists was broken, where did he get the strength to grip me so hard? It really hurts.”

Ji Lingyue carefully placed her warm hand over the bruises. “He’s already dead. Don’t be angry anymore.”

“I’m not angry,” Lan Wu said, looking down at her skin as the bruises faded. She sighed. “It’s just… when I first met him, I never imagined he’d end up like this.”

Ji Lingyue didn’t say anything. After healing her injuries, she pulled her into the room. “Don’t worry about it. He’s just a passerby in your life.”

Lan Wu raised an eyebrow, then suddenly remembered something else. “Oh right, I ran into Yao Zhu.”

“Yao Zhu?” Ji Lingyue was surprised, turning her head. “When? Where?”

Lan Wu smiled wryly. “Actually, you met her too. Before we left Wangliang City, you flung her away.”

After a long silence, Ji Lingyue frowned, hesitating. “Was that the woman… who was on top of you?”

“….The way you say that makes it sound weird. Fine, yes, it was her.”

“I didn’t expect her to join the demons’ side.”

“She’s a demon to begin with, and Xuan Yu is still in Lan Yueyao’s hands.” Lan Wu pondered. “I wonder if she knows about Xuan Yu’s situation. After so many years, Yao Zhu is a clever fox, she should have done something, right?”

Ji Lingyue nodded, silently taking a step forward, burying herself in Lan Wu’s embrace, her arms wrapping around her waist.

Lan Wu was startled, looking down at her, placing her hands on her back. “What’s wrong?”

“I’m tired.”

Lan Wu blinked, saying softly, “You’ve worked hard.”

Ji Lingyue said muffledly, “Just saying ‘you’ve worked hard’ isn’t enough.”

“Then what else do you want?”

The person in her arms was silent for a moment, then lifted her head, her clear eyes staring intently at her. Lan Wu met her gaze for a moment, then suddenly had an idea, leaning down to kiss her lips.

Ji Lingyue hummed softly, “One isn’t enough.”

“Okay,” Lan Wu cupped her face, squeezing her cheeks, making her red lips pout. She frowned, confused, her face all scrunched up, making her look even more adorable. Lan Wu chuckled, letting go of her cheeks and lowering her head to kiss her lips.

“Lan Wu…”

“Hmm?”

Ji Lingyue wrapped her arms around her neck, whispering, “Let’s sleep.”

“Just sleep?”

Ji Lingyue froze, her face suddenly turning red. She looked up and bit Lan Wu on the cheek. “What do you think?”

Lan Wu said, confused, “I really don’t know… Ouch, are you a puppy?” She covered Ji Lingyue’s mouth, pretending to be stern, “If you keep biting, I’ll have to punish you.”

Ji Lingyue stared at her for a moment, then lightly licked Lan Wu’s palm.

As soon as they pushed open the bedroom door, Ji Lingyue pulled Lan Wu into a kiss. Lan Wu closed the door behind them, lifting Ji Lingyue in the quiet darkness and setting her on the table near the entrance.

Ji Lingyue’s dark nightclothes were quickly pushed up by Lan Wu. The woman’s breathing grew rapid as she kissed Ji Lingyue’s face, her hands fumbling with the sash at her waist. Ji Lingyue cooperated willingly, and soon her smooth skin was pressed against Lan Wu’s cool palm.

She let out a soft moan, her legs wrapping around Lan Wu’s waist, pulling her closer, and even closer.

Wu’s fingers expertly teased her wet core. Ji Lingyue trembled, instinctively clutching Lan Wu’s back, saying brokenly, “You’re… so passionate today…”

Lan Wu lifted her head, her chest still rising and falling, her beautiful eyes filled with a misty haze, making her look even more seductive than the flushed Ji Lingyue. They were pressed together by the door, their clothes still mostly intact. To an outsider, it would seem like nothing was happening.

She held Ji Lingyue tightly, burying her face in her neck, her fingers rubbing the wet, soft folds, her fingers covered in sticky fluid, then parted the soft slickness before slowly pushing inside. “Isn’t it because you’re… too tempting?”

Ji Lingyue’s lashes fluttered, a shy smile tugging at her lips. She hugged Lan Wu tightly, her stomach tightening with excitement.

Lan Wu kissed her ear, whispering, “You like to tease me so much, I’ll never let you go.”

As she spoke, she slowly rotated her fingers, her fingertips rubbing against the sensitive flesh inside. A vine, seemingly from nowhere, wrapped around Ji Lingyue’s swollen clit, gently stroking it. Ji Lingyue let out a soft whimper, resting her chin on Lan Wu’s shoulder, her eyes closing in pleasure. “You… you better… keep your word…”

Lan Wu chuckled. “Of course.”

She lifted Ji Lingyue, carrying her toward the bed. A thick vine replaced her fingers, thrusting in and out with each step. Ji Lingyue moaned, gripping Lan Wu’s shoulders as her arousal dripped down, soaking her clothes.

Lan Wu laid her on the bed, kissing her tenderly. “Tell me if it’s uncomfortable.”

Ji Lingyue murmured an incoherent response.

Outside, a light rain began to fall.

The autumn rain was continuous, bringing a chill that signaled the approaching winter.

Tears spilled from the corners of Ji Lingyue’s eyes as her legs hung limply over Lan Wu’s arms, swaying with each movement. Lan Wu lowered her head, sucking on her already swollen nipple, teasing her gently. Ji Lingyue let out weak moans, overwhelmed by the pleasure.

“Ah Yue,” Lan Wu whispered. “It’s raining.”

Ji Lingyue instinctively looked out the window. Under the slanted eaves, a curtain of rain hung like beads, a few withered leaves floated down, settling on the rippling water below. She looked for a moment, then blinked dazedly, turning to Lan Wu, wanting her to hold her. “One… last time… no more…”

“Okay.”

Lan Wu’s fingers moved more forcefully inside her, the wet sounds filling the room. Ji Lingyue moaned, her long eyelashes damp, her soft, red flesh clenched around Lan Wu’s fingers, and as her clit was squeezed tightly, she trembled, releasing wave after wave of wet pleasure.

Lan Wu gently rubbed the small of her back, then flipped them over, letting Ji Lingyue rest on her chest. The sound of rain tapping against the window filled the room. Ji Lingyue closed her eyes, catching her breath. As the sweat evaporated, she began to feel cold.

“Mm…” Unwilling to use a spell to warm herself, she curled up, snuggling closer to Lan Wu. Lan Wu patted her rounded bottom, lazily getting up to fill the bathtub with water using her spiritual energy. She tossed in a fire pearl to heat it, then carried Ji Lingyue into the tub.

Steam rose, warming their flushed cheeks. Exhausted from their earlier activities, Ji Lingyue lay still, letting Lan Wu wash her. After a while, Lan Wu kissed her lips. “Sleepy?”

Ji Lingyue hummed softly.

“Okay,” Lan Wu said, stroking her soft hair, “Then let’s sleep for a few hours.”

Ji Lingyue mumbled, “Sleep with me.”

“Okay.”

The soft murmurs in the room gradually faded away. Outside, dark clouds filled the sky, and the light rain was falling, making it the perfect weather for sleeping. But just as noon approached, someone knocked on the courtyard door.

Lan Wu opened her eyes sleepily, seeing that Ji Lingyue was unusually reluctant to get up. She covered her with the blanket and left the room to open the door.

Two young women were standing outside, holding umbrellas. One had her arm in a sling, and the other was using a single crutch. Lan Wu looked at them, puzzled. “Why are you two here instead of resting?”

Danqing said, “There’s a merfolk outside the city, she says she wants to see you.”

Danbai said, “And there’s a mortal outside the city who says he wants to see Ah Yue.”

Lan Wu was startled, instinctively asking, “Who is it?”

“The merfolk said her name is Fuyou.”

“The mortal said his name is Yuan Zhen.”
