CHAPTER 209: Old Things

Sexual content warning.

As morning arrived, a thick layer of snow covered the courtyard.

Ji Lingyue pushed open the crooked window and took a deep breath. The dry, cold air that entered her nostrils was sharp, but it invigorated her.

She turned her head to glance at Lan Wu, who was still asleep, then carefully closed the window and slipped back into bed.

Having spent the night in the warm bedding, Lan Wu’s body was exceptionally warm. Ji Lingyue found a comfortable spot and lay still for a while. Her gaze inadvertently fell on the faint kiss mark on Lan Wu’s pale neck, and she couldn’t help but lift her head to press her lips lightly against it, like a dragonfly skimming the water.

Lan Wu groaned softly, her arm draping over her waist. “Aren’t you tired?”

Ji Lingyue shook her head. Seeing that she was still asleep, she said, “I’m not.”

Lan Wu chuckled. “Of course you’re not tired, I’m the one doing all the work.”

She yawned, finally opening her eyes, pulling Ji Lingyue into her arms. “You’re such a delicate little flower.”

Though Lan Wu spoke boldly, if she was a bit rough, or her tone was too firm, she would pout and even shed a few pitiful tears. She couldn’t be too gentle, nor too rough, she was difficult to please.

After a moment of thought, Lan Wu pinched Ji Lingyue’s bottom. “You asked me if I had a heat cycle. If I did, you’d be the first to complain.” She commented, “Such a hypocrite.”

Ji Lingyue denied it. “I wasn’t in good condition last night.”

Seeing that Lan Wu was humoring her, she frowned, anxiously saying, “My… my body hasn’t fully recovered. When I’m better, I can handle anything you do.”

Lan Wu scoffed. “What could I possibly do? Would I force you against your will and bully you?”

Ji Lingyue pressed her lips together and remained silent, but a faint blush crept across her face. Lan Wu was taken aback for a moment before bursting into laughter. “What are you thinking about? Do you actually like that idea?”

Ji Lingyue quickly denied it. “No!”

“Really?” Lan Wu arched a brow, clearly unconvinced.

Lan Wu’s fingers, which had been gently kneading Ji Lingyue’s bottom, slid lower, probing deeper. “It seems like you’re quite energetic this early in the morning.”

Ji Lingyue shivered, her hot breath brushing against Lan Wu’s neck. Then, a wet kiss followed. “Be gentle. You bit me so hard last night… it’s swollen.”

“Are you blaming me?” Lan Wu lazily stroked the back of Ji Lingyue’s head. “You were the one who kept begging me to—”

Ji Lingyue, embarrassed and annoyed, silenced her with a kiss. Lan Wu, however, smiled and cupped Ji Lingyue’s face, flipping her onto her back. “Relax,” she murmured, her fingers teasing Ji Lingyue’s sensitive clit. Soon, the woman beneath her was moaning softly. “Don’t clench so tight.”

Ji Lingyue’s face flushed red as she slowly spread her legs and wrapped her arms around Lan Wu’s neck. “I’m already wet. You can… you can go in now.”

Lan Wu happily kissed her nose. “Okay.”

After the New Year, Ji Lingyue bid farewell to Ji Yan one afternoon and led her horse down the mountain, heading east with Lan Wu.

During the day, they passed through one town after another, strolling along moss-covered streets of riverside villages, pausing to admire the lights of the human realm. At night, they stayed in inns like ordinary travelers. When they found themselves in a remote area, they would take out the portable courtyard, spending the night in the lonely wilderness.

Under a sky heavy with dark clouds and surrounded by snow-capped mountains, the small courtyard glowed with a faint, warm light amidst the raging snowstorm.

With a splash, a wet arm emerged from the water and rested on the dry wooden platform. Ji Lingyue gasped for breath, her damp eyes squinting as she gazed up at the sky.

Snowflakes as large as goose feathers drifted past the protective barrier above the roof. Beyond the dark clouds, a faint, hazy glow seemed to linger.

“Mmm…”

After a soft moan, the mermaid lifted her face from between Ji Lingyue’s legs. Her deep blue eyes emerged from the water, staring intently at Ji Lingyue. The woman’s red, swollen entrance glistened with sticky wetness, but it also swallowed the cool pool water as it contracted. Ji Lingyue trembled and moaned for a while before finally catching her breath. She rubbed her heel against Lan Wu’s back. “More…”

Lan Wu smiled, floating up slightly to reveal her rosy lips. “But my hands are busy holding your legs. I can’t lick inside. What should I do?”

Ji Lingyue’s face turned even redder. She knew Lan Wu was teasing her, trying to make her do something shameless. Yet, the suggestion only excited her more. After a brief hesitation, she slowly reached between her legs and clumsily parted her wet, soft lips. “It’s… it’s okay now…”

Seemingly surprised by her directness, Lan Wu paused, her long tail fin twitching unconsciously under the water.

Ji Lingyue suppressed her shyness, rubbing her face against her thigh, urging her on. “It’s, it’s okay to be rougher…”

Lan Wu pursed her lips, looking at Ji Lingyue with a smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes. It seemed to carry some sort of dangerous signal, but Ji Lingyue, lost in the throes of passion, couldn’t quite grasp it. The mermaid then silently sank into the water.

Moments later, Ji Lingyue arched her back, leaning back helplessly as a sweet, high-pitched moan escaped her lips.

Outside, the snowstorm grew fiercer, the flakes pattering against the barrier. After what felt like an eternity, the sound of splashing water echoed in the courtyard again. Ji Lingyue was pulled out and made to kneel on the deck. Water dripped from her body onto the rough wooden platform. She coughed once, crawling forward slightly, only to be dragged back by her ankles.

“Ah… ah…”

Her slick, red entrance swallowed two fingers, thrusting rapidly a few times before she trembled and released a flood of liquid. . Lan Wu emerged from the water, her tail transforming into long, slender legs as she pressed herself against Ji Lingyue’s back.

Ji Lingyue was like a ripe fruit, bursting with juice at the slightest touch. Lan Wu twisted her wrist, her fingers teasing the sensitive walls inside. Ji Lingyue let out a sudden sob, her legs trembling uncontrollably. “Lan… Lan Wu, ah…”

“What is it?” Lan Wu asked, her voice soft.

Ji Lingyue whimpered, “My knees… they hurt…”

“Is that so?” She lowered her head, kissing the woman’s prominent collarbone, whispering, “I thought you liked this position. You were clenching so tightly the other night.”

Ji Lingyue, recalling the events of that night, stiffened and clenched even tighter.

Lan Wu chuckled. “What did I tell you?”

“No… it’s not that…” Ji Lingyue sobbed in protest. “That night… ah, that night… there was someone…”

That night, a thief had broken into their inn and sneaked into their room. Just as Lan Wu had extended her tentacles, the mischievous mermaid, knowing full well that someone was hiding under the bed just a few steps away, had pressed herself against Ji Lingyue and entered her from behind. Ji Lingyue had barely dared to breathe, her entrance so wet that even the slightest thrust made her gush.

“Is that so?” Lan Wu said softly. “But that person was just a fourteen-year-old girl. I even set up a barrier. Why were you still so excited?”

Ji Lingyue accused her, tearfully. “You… ah, you didn’t… say you, you put, put up a barrier…”

Lan Wu didn’t respond, simply holding Ji Lingyue as they lay on their sides. Ji Lingyue caught her breath and turned her head to kiss Lan Wu. As their lips met, Lan Wu slid her leg between Ji Lingyue’s thighs and cupped one of her soft breasts with her free hand.

The sound of wet thrusts filled the air, and soon Ji Lingyue arched her back, trembling as she came once more.

Having experienced too many orgasms, her body was sore and weak, her mind filled with a wave of exhaustion. She didn’t react when Lan Wu flipped her over, letting her do as she pleased.

Lan Wu touched Ji Lingyue’s slick entrance, parting her soft lips before slowly lowering herself, pressing her own wetness against Ji Lingyue’s.

“Mmm…”

She closed her eyes, letting out a satisfied sigh as she casually brushed her sweat-dampened silver hair back, revealing a face of lazy beauty. Ji Lingyue stared at her, her heart pounding.

“What are you staring at?” Lan Wu leaned down, gently rocking her hips as she kissed Ji Lingyue’s cheek. “Are you sleepy again?”

Ji Lingyue instinctively shook her head, then nodded, wrapping her arms around the mermaid’s shoulders. “You’re so beautiful.”

Lan Wu said seriously, “Thank you, you’re beautiful too.”

The exchange was like mutual flattery. Ji Lingyue chuckled, then moaned from the pleasure of being rubbed. “Ah… it feels so good…”

Lan Wu asked, “Does this feel better, or does being licked feel better?”

Ji Lingyue, dazed, replied, “Both feel good.”

“If you had to choose?”

When Lan Wu rubbed her clit hard, Ji Lingyue suddenly gripped her back and sobbed, “Licking… I like licking…”

Lan Wu smiled, increasing the pressure as she let out a soft, seductive sigh. “Mm… If you wake me up early again tomorrow, I won’t lick you anymore…”

“Mmm… mmm…”

The next day, before dawn, Lan Wu was shaken awake. The person shaking her was calling her name repeatedly. “Lan Wu, Lan Wu, Lan Wu…”

Lan Wu groaned, turning over and burying her face in the pillow.

“Lan Wu, the sun is about to rise,” Ji Lingyue said, emphasizing each word as she pulled her arm. “It’s the sunrise over Kunlun Snow Peak.”

Lan Wu’s muffled voice came from the pillow. “It’s just another snow-capped mountain. How is its sunrise any different from Haochen Mountain’s?”

“Of course it’s different,” Ji Lingyue said. “We’ve seen the sunrise over Haochen Mountain together, but not Kunlun’s. I want to see it with you.”

After a long silence, Lan Wu took a deep breath, finally opening her eyes, struggling to pull herself out of the pillow. “Okay, let’s go see it together!”

Once dressed, Lan Wu was led out of the warm courtyard, but she couldn’t help shivering. Ji Lingyue, noticing this, snuggled closer, acting as a human heater. Under a sky full of stars, the two embraced, quietly waiting for the sunrise.

Soon, a cold snowflake landed on Lan Wu’s nose. She blinked and looked up to see snowflakes drifting down again. Ji Lingyue also noticed and frowned in disappointment. “It was clear just a moment ago. Why is it snowing again?”

The sunrise was likely ruined. Lan Wu comforted her. “It’s okay, the weather isn’t cooperating. If we can’t see it this time, we’ll come back another day. We’ll see it eventually.”

Ji Lingyue pursed her lips and let out a dejected hum.

Lan Wu chuckled and cupped Ji Lingyue’s face, giving it a gentle squeeze. “What’s the big deal? They say Kunlun Mountain is covered in snow half the year and clear the other half. Although we didn’t see the sunrise, we got to see the snow, isn’t that lucky too?”

Ji Lingyue’s disappointment gradually faded as she was being cuddled. She smiled. “Then we’ll come back another time.”

Lan Wu nodded, happily leading her back.

Ji Lingyue instinctively asked, “Are we going to pack up and leave?”

“No,” Lan Wu replied. “We’re going back to sleep.”

Half a month later, they finally reached the eastern coast and set sail for Penglai. Waiting on the shore was Lan Yuan, who crossed her arms and frowned as soon as she saw them. “You two are as slow as snails! How did it take you so long to cover such a short distance? Do you know how long I’ve been waiting here?”

From a distance, Lan Wu could only hear her voice but still felt a pang of guilt. “What’s the rush? We’re here now, aren’t we?”

Lan Yuan huffed, but when their boat docked, she still reached out to help. “Of course you’re not in a hurry, but I only have a month left before I have to return to the South Sea. I don’t have your freedom.”

As Lan Wu stepped onto the shore, she glanced behind Lan Yuan and asked, somewhat surprised, “Didn’t Senior Sister Meng come with you?”

“She had to return to Haochen Mountain for something,” Lan Yuan replied, then gave Lan Wu a puzzled look. “But why are you asking about her? Why would she come with me?”

Lan Wu hesitated. “I was just asking.”

“Speaking of that,” Lan Yuan took out a paper crane from her pocket. “She gave me this before she left, saying that if I tore it, she’ll come immediately.”

Ji Lingyue said, “Senior Sister is very thoughtful.”

Lan Yuan turned to look at her, even more confused. “Thoughtful? Well, after everything we’ve been through, I suppose we are comrades who’ve faced life and death together. But we’re not that close, are we? Besides, what kind of danger would I be in that requires her to come immediately?”

Ji Lingyue was silent for a moment, then hesitated. “You… you have a point.”

Lan Wu chuckled, changing the subject. “Alright, since you’ve been here for a few days, do you know how the other Penglai disciples are doing?”

Lan Yuan nodded, leading them inside. “The elders of Penglai and those who were aware of the situation have been taken to the Central Region. They’ll be judged by the three sects and sent to the execution platform. As for the truly innocent disciples, they’ve been taken in by the various immortal sects. From now on, the Penglai sect no longer exists.”

“What about Chu Jiao? Any news of her?”

Lan Yuan paused, remembering that this was the Chu family member who had betrayed them and helped them in Shiling City. “Yes, she made a grave mistake, but she also redeemed herself. After some discussion, the sect leaders decided to spare her. She’s been ordered to guard Shiling City for a hundred years and is not allowed to leave during that time.”

Lan Wu pursed her lips. “That’s a decent outcome, I suppose.”

Just then, a figure ran towards them from afar. “Your… Your Majesty!”

Lan Wu squinted. “Feng Yi?”

Lan Yuan nodded. “Although there aren’t many people left on this island, there are still a lot of things left behind. I asked Feng Yi to bring some merfolk to clean up and throw out everything that belonged to the Chu family. We’ve already cleared out several batches over the past few days.”

She then responded. “What is it?”

Feng Yi ran over. “I found a painting in the Chu family’s ancestral hall.”

“Ancestral hall?” Lan Yuan frowned, annoyed. “Didn’t I tell you to destroy it?”

“Yes, that’s when I found it. The painting was in a corner. I wouldn’t have found it if the shelf hadn’t fallen. Your Majesty, do you want to see it?”

Lan Yuan refused. “What’s so interesting about a Chu family painting?”

Lan Wu, however, was curious. “What painting? Let me see.”

Feng Yi paused, handing her the scroll. “I think the painting is quite important.”

Lan Wu raised an eyebrow and slowly unrolled the painting. Her casual gaze fell upon it, and she froze. Lan Yuan, noticing her reaction, leaned in to take a look.

It was an old painting, the paper yellowed and the edges worn. Yet, the woman depicted was still vivid, her gentle eyes and smiling face gazing softly at the viewer.

Although it was the first time she had seen her, she instantly recognized her identity.

After a moment of silence, Lan Wu handed the painting to Lan Yuan. “You take it.”

Lan Yuan stared at the painting for a long time before finally looking up with a sad smile. “So… this is what she looked like.”
