CHAPTER 125: Obedient

As dawn began to paint the sky, Lan Wu opened her eyes. Her vision was met with a bare back and a head of messy black hair in front of her. She yawned sleepily and murmured, “Ah Yue.”
Ji Lingyue responded with a muffled hum, slowly turning over after a moment. Lan Wu yawned again, about to speak, when she suddenly saw three gaping maws staring back at her.
Her hair stood on end.
“Ah!”
She jolted awake, breathing heavily, her heart pounding as if it would burst from her chest. Just then, a hand reached out from beside her, a voice grumbling, “Did you have a nightmare?”
Lan Wu froze, slowly turning her gaze to the person beside her.
Thankfully, there was only one mouth…
The moonlight outside the window was as gentle as water, and Lan Wu’s heartbeat gradually calmed.
She sighed in relief, turned to her side, and pulled the sleepy Ji Lingyue into her arms, gently patting her back. “It’s nothing. Go back to sleep.”
“Mmm…” Ji Lingyue murmured, obediently closing her eyes and quickly falling asleep. Lan Wu, however, was wide awake, the earlier dream still making her chuckle.
Dreaming that Ah Yue had three mouths and getting scared awake… it seems Danqing’s nagging really got to me…
Wait, she suddenly paused, frowning. Danqing?
After a moment of stillness, Lan Wu finally realized, carefully extracting her hand from under Ji Lingyue’s head before leaping out of bed. She threw on a robe, and barefoot, hurried to the other side of the cave.
A faint blue light flashed, and a small white bird appeared. Upon seeing Lan Wu, it cried out, angrily flying towards her, flapping its wings against her head. “You forgot about me again! I knew it!”
Lan Wu: “Shh!”
“Shh?” Danqing fumed, her feathers bristling. “You’re shushing me?”
“No, I mean… just… shh…” Lan Wu lowered her voice. “Shh…”
“You!” She was even more enraged, transforming into a human with a poof, standing in front of Lan Wu, clenching her fists, and loudly accusing her. “You always forget about me, and you don’t care about me! You’re the worst master in the whole world!”
As soon as the words left her mouth, a dark aura coiled around her body, yanking her away.
Lan Wu instinctively turned to see Ji Lingyue holding her robe closed with one hand while the other gripped the little girl’s throat, her eyes fixed on her.
“Who are you?”
Lan Wu quickly said, “She’s…”
Ji Lingyue glanced at her. “Let her speak for herself.”
It had been years since Lan Wu last received such a sharp look from Ji Lingyue, and she was momentarily stunned. After a pause, she turned to the terrified bird and said hesitantly, “She… can’t really speak like this.”
Ji Lingyue paused, slightly loosening her grip. “Speak.”
Danqing, stared at by those cold, red eyes, trembled and sniffled. Her earlier bluster had vanished. “I… I…” she choked out, “I’m… I’m Danqing.”
“Danqing,” Ji Lingyue repeated, her brow furrowing slightly. “Danqing?”
After a moment of silence, she suddenly released her grip, surprised. “Danqing!”
The girl squeaked before transforming back into a gyrfalcon and burying herself in Lan Wu’s arms, shivering uncontrollably.
Lan Wu sighed and stroked her feathers, looking at the still surprised Ji Lingyue. “Still being fierce?”
Ji Lingyue awkwardly tightened her grip on the robe covering her chest. “Who told you to get up in the middle of the night and sneak off to meet some little girl…”
Lan Wu couldn’t help but smile, her voice gentle. “Did I wake you?”
Ji Lingyue hummed. “I can’t sleep if you’re not holding me.” With that, she slowly approached Lan Wu, hesitantly placing her hand on Danqing. “I’m sorry.”
After a while, Danqing slowly poked her head out of Lan Wu’s arms, cautiously looking at Ji Lingyue.
Lan Wu suddenly realized something and was about to pinch the bird’s beak shut when Danqing chirped, “You really don’t have three mouths.”
Ji Lingyue blinked. “Three mouths?”
“She’s just joking.” Lan Wu said, thinking to herself how quickly this little bird’s emotions shifted. One moment she was terrified, and the next, she was already forgetting about it. “Alright, you can rest here. If you don’t want to rest, go out and play. Just remember I’m here.”
Danqing huffed. “I’m not as forgetful as you.”
Lan Wu flicked her head. “You talk too much.”
Danqing shook her wings and flew around the room a few times before landing on the bed in another stone chamber. “This place is nice.”
Ji Lingyue instinctively said, “Wait, that’s…”
She paused, glanced at Lan Wu, and coughed, pretending to be casual. “That’s the guest room, make yourself at home.”
Lan Wu looked at her, confused. “Is there something wrong with that room?”
Ji Lingyue quickly shook her head, wrapping her arms around Lan Wu’s neck and whispering, “Let’s go back to sleep.”
Just then, Danqing’s clear voice rang out, “Oh no!”
Lan Wu turned her head. “What’s wrong?”
Danqing replied, “There’s a strand of hair on the bed, a white one!”
Lan Wu frowned, looking down at the woman who had buried her face in her shoulder, pondering. “I didn’t go into that room earlier, did I?”
Ji Lingyue tightened her grip on Lan Wu’s clothes, her toes curling nervously against the cold floor. “…No.”
Lan Wu hummed, looking at her with a knowing smile. “So you’ve had guests here, huh?”
If it were just any guest, she wouldn’t think much of it. But Ji Lingyue’s unusual reaction made her suspect something amiss. “Was it just one guest?”
Ji Lingyue was startled, not expecting her to be so perceptive. She could only bury her face in Lan Wu’s arms, trying to change the subject. “Let’s go to sleep.”
The more she acted like that, the more suspicious Lan Wu became. But the person in front of her was only covering her chest with a robe, her back completely exposed, shivering from the night chill.
A powerful demon should not be afraid of the cold. Lan Wu figured she was just pretending to be pitiful, but she couldn’t bring herself to be harsh. After a moment of hesitation, she gave in.
“Okay, let’s go to sleep.”
She grabbed Ji Lingyue’s waist and pulled her up. The woman jumped into her arms and was carried back to the soft bed. Ji Lingyue’s legs were still wrapped around Lan Wu’s waist as she lifted her head and kissed Lan Wu’s neck.
Lan Wu felt a heat rush through her. Her fingertips explored the soft inner thigh and, as expected, found a bit of moisture. “Weren’t you going to sleep?”
“One more time,” she mumbled, trembling. “I want… I want…”
Lan Wu leaned down, cupping Ji Lingyue’s face and kissing her gently. She teased the entrance with her fingers before slipping two inside.
“Mmm…”
Ji Lingyue frowned, her eyes half-closed, urging Lan Wu to hurry. Lan Wu did as asked, her fingers leaving a trail of moisture. She could hear Ji Lingyue’s rapid breathing. Ji Lingyue reached out to her shoulders and kissed her neck.
Lan Wu couldn’t help but moan. Her fingers continued to tease inside, while her other hand grasped Ji Lingyue’s breast, kneading it roughly.
“Ah… ahh… ugh…” Ji Lingyue’s muffled moans were interrupted by Lan Wu’s soft reminder. “Shh, Danqing’s next door.”
Ji Lingyue froze, biting her lip as her teary eyes stared up at Lan Wu.
Lan Wu brushed back her silver hair and gave her a sweet smile, before leaning down to kiss her. “That’s a good girl.”
