CHAPTER 34: Forgive

Sexual content warning.

As dawn approached, Ji Lingyue opened her eyes on time and sat up abruptly. She yawned and groggily reached out to grab her clothes beside the pillow but touched something soft instead. Startled, she shuddered and widened her eyes to look.

“Mmm…” Lan Wu murmured, turning over and draping an arm around Ji Lingyue’s waist. In a husky voice, she asked, “Why are you up so early?”

Ji Lingyue stared at her in surprise for a while before the memories of last night came flooding back, making her head spin. She responded instinctively, “I need… to practice my sword.”

“…”

Lan Wu squinted at her with difficulty. “Practice your sword? Really? Now?”

Ji Lingyue: “The morning is the best time of day…”

“I get it.” Lan Wu quickly interrupted, covering her ears and diving under the covers, mumbling: “Go practice your sword then, I’ll just sleep a bit longer.”

Seeing the lump shift under the blankets, Ji Lingyue blinked, suddenly understanding. “Actually, I don’t have to practice right now.” She pulled the covers back up, obediently settling back down beside Lan Wu. “I think I’ll sleep a bit longer too.”

Lan Wu smiled, reaching out in the dark covers to pull her into her arms. “Let’s sleep until the mid-morning.”

Ji Lingyue frowned slightly, hesitating for a moment before nodding. “Okay.”

Satisfied, Lan Wu kissed her on the cheek, then nestled her head on Ji Lingyue’s shoulder and went back to sleep.

By the time they woke again, it was almost noon. It was then that Lan Wu remembered Lan Yuan, whom she had left behind at Qianyun Peak. After a hurried wash and change of clothes, she rushed back.

As expected, the moment she stepped through the door, she was met with Lan Yuan’s disgruntled voice. “Where were you last night?”

Lan Wu turned to see the little fish in the water basin and picked up some nearby medicine, walking over. “I didn’t go anywhere, just… went for a walk in the city.”

Lan Yuan was suspicious. “Really?”

“Why would I lie to you?”

“Haven’t you lied to me enough?” Lan Yuan snorted, flicking her tail. “Lan Wu, have you made your decision?”

“Why are you in such a hurry?”

Lan Yuan let out a cold laugh. “My injuries are almost healed. If I don’t hurry, you’ll find a way to wriggle out of it.”

Lan Wu fell silent, crushing the pill and sprinkling it into the water. “What choice do I have? Isn’t leaving Haochen Mountain my only option?”

“You’d better be this obedient.”

After swallowing the medicine, Lan Yuan slowly swam to the surface, poking her head out of the water. She watched as Lan Wu rummaged through a chest, a radiant smile plastered on her face. Lan Yuan couldn’t help but flick her tail in confusion.

What’s there to be so happy about?

Before she could ask, someone knocked, calling out. “Lan Wu?”

Lan Wu started, hurrying to open the door. “Didn’t I tell you to wait outside?”

“I did.” Ji Lingyue lifted a transparent, spherical container. “But I just remembered, I have this artifact. It’s supposed to continuously generate fresh water. I thought it might be very useful for you.”

Lan Wu blinked, confused. “Huh?”

Ji Lingyue clarified, “You have a fish, don’t you?”

“Ah, right!” She hurried over to take the container, turning back towards her room. “Give me a moment, I’ll be ready soon.”

“Okay.”

As Lan Wu went to change, Ji Lingyue stood obediently at the door, waiting. After a while, she noticed the little fish in the basin not far away. Curiously, she walked over.

The fish seemed almost sentient, staring at her. Ji Lingyue lowered her head and saw that it had striking blue eyes, and its scales shimmered like silver gems. She reached out a finger, trying to touch its exposed head, but the fish dodged nimbly and splashed water all around.

Ji Lingyue couldn’t help but chuckle, finding its frantic movements amusing. It almost seemed as if the fish was expressing its displeasure.

Just then, Lan Wu emerged, looking refreshed. “You’ve got quite a temperamental fish,” Ji Lingyue commented, gesturing towards the basin.

Lan Wu’s heart skipped a beat. Before she could react, Lan Yuan’s furious voice filled her mind. How dare this little human humiliate me! She was the one who attacked me before! How could you be friends with such a person? Don’t you know bad company corrupts good morals?!

Lan Wu maintained a neutral expression, pushing the basin further in. “She’s always like this. Don’t mind her.”

“Lan Wu!”

Lan Wu poked Lan Yuan’s head lightly, then pulled Ji Lingyue towards the door. “Let’s go. If we leave now, we might still catch the midday crab feast at Zuihong Pavilion.”

Ji Lingyue mumbled, “But I don’t know how to eat crabs.”

“Don’t worry, I’ll teach you.”

The door opened and closed with a soft click, their voices fading into the distance. Lan Yuan was left alone, fuming in her basin. She decided that when she left, she would slap Lan Wu and the human before leaving.

Half a month passed in a blink. With the advanced spellcasting class concluded, their schedules were suddenly free.

However, to cultivate her temperament, Ji Lingyue decided to enroll in Elder Qin Yi’s painting and calligraphy class. This time, instead of her usual brilliance, she found herself struggling, suffering a significant setback.

The girl, who had always been praised for her exceptional talent, felt as if she had encountered the most difficult challenge of her life. While her beautiful hands moved effortlessly and gracefully with a sword, they became stiff and clumsy when holding a brush. Simple lines turned into tangled messes, and the characters she wrote were distorted beyond recognition.

After witnessing Ji Lingyue’s disastrous attempts at painting, even Elder Qin Yi began to doubt her sincerity, wondering if she was doing it on purpose. Feeling guilty about her poor performance, Ji Lingyue spent her days either practicing swordsmanship or diligently working on her calligraphy and painting.

As a result, Yu Shanye hadn’t seen her in days. Even Lan Wu, who lived in the same courtyard, was nowhere to be found lately. Hoping to find her in Elder Bai Wang’s class, she was disappointed to see Ji Lingyue’s seat still empty. When Elder Bai Wang inquired, Yu Shanye was just as clueless.

Elder Bai Wang frowned. “Aren’t you two always together?”

Yu Shanye sighed. “That was in the past.”

“Very well.” Elder Bai Wang sighed. “Tell her that for skipping class without a valid reason, she’ll have to copy the Scripture of Tranquility, five hundred times and hand it in next class.”

“But where am I supposed to find her?” Yu Shanye muttered under her breath.

“What was that?”

“Nothing, nothing, Master.”

An autumn breeze swept through, carrying away fallen leaves from the courtyard. It rustled through the silent forest, climbed the cold mountain peak, and finally, accompanied by the tinkling of wind chimes, stirred a blank sheet of paper on a desk by the window.

A slender calligraphy brush lay undisturbed on the table, its tip holding a drop of ink, threatening to fall. The wind shifted, and with a soft plop, the ink stained the paper.

“Mmm…”

From behind the curtain, faint sounds of gasps could be heard. A young woman in white robes was pressed against the wall, her slender legs wrapped around the waist of the person holding her. She whimpered softly, her flushed face buried in the cool neck of her lover, “Lan Wu…” she breathed.

Lan Wu responded with a hum, slowly withdrawing her wet fingers. Ji Lingyue shuddered, closing her eyes as the blush spread down her neck. Her long lashes fluttered, but she lifted her head, seeking Lan Wu’s lips with her own.

Lan Wu met her kiss, her hand moving to caress Ji Lingyue’s bottom. A soft moan escaped Ji Lingyue’s lips, her hips instinctively moving against Lan Wu’s touch. She tried to pull away, but her damp core only rubbed against Lan Wu’s palm.

“Mm, Lan Wu…” she gasped, her voice barely a whisper. “Stop teasing me.”

“Tease?” Lan Wu lifted her hand, the one that had been stroking Ji Lingyue’s intimate folds, showing the moisture on her fingers. “You’re clearly enjoying this.”

Ji Lingyue flushed, heat coursing through her body. Before she could respond, Lan Wu lifted her and gently placed her on the bed. “You didn’t take your clothes off this time either,” she said with a playful smirk. “Fair is fair.”

Ji Lingyue blinked, glancing at Lan Wu’s neatly arranged robes, then down at her own naked lower body. “How is this fair?” You… you always tease me…”

“Why accuse me wrongly?” Lan Wu chuckled, rolling over and pulling Ji Lingyue on top of her. “Hold on… don’t fall.”

“Wait, ah!” Ji Lingyue cried out as tears welled in her dark eyes. Her legs trembled, almost giving way. As she swayed, Lan Wu steadied her with a firm pat on her bottom. As she tried to sink down, Lan Wu smacked her butt, spreading her soft, slick flesh and playing with her entrance.

“Ah… Lan Wu…” Ji Lingyue whimpered, trying to steady herself. As Lan Wu’s fingers grazed a sensitive spot, Ji Lingyue bucked involuntarily, desperate to pull those teasing fingers deeper. However, Lan Wu was in no hurry; her touch continued to tease, driving Ji Lingyue to the brink. Hearing her whimpers of frustration, Lan Wu finally relented. Her hand moved to cup Ji Lingyue’s butt as she trailed kisses down her thigh, finally capturing the sensitive bud with her lips.

Ji Lingyue gasped, her body trembling uncontrollably as pleasure washed over her, leaving her weak and pliant. It wasn’t long before she found release. A wave of warmth spread through her as Lan Wu’s skilled mouth brought her to the edge, her fluids coating Lan Wu’s beautiful face.

Lan Wu licked her lips, gently pushing Ji Lingyue back. Her body still trembled from the aftershocks of her climax. Lying limp on the bed, she watched as Lan Wu moved over her. Blinking up at her through heavy lids, she reached for Lan Wu, her voice a breathless plea. “More…”

“Be good, spread your legs,” Lan Wu whispered.

At her words, Ji Lingyue’s lashes fluttered, and as if under a spell, she obediently spread her legs, revealing everything to Lan Wu.

It wasn’t wrong to say Lan Wu was teasing her. Ji Lingyue was almost completely undressed, wearing only a loose, thin, and transparent Daoist robe, the sash left untied. Now, after their passionate lovemaking, the robe had slipped down to her elbows, exposing her snow white shoulders and chest.

Feeling a bit shy under Lan Wu’s intense gaze, Ji Lingyue trembled, her core clenching and unclenching as a stream of liquid escaped.

“Lan Wu,” she breathed, her voice husky. Despite her shyness, she didn’t shy away from expressing her desire. “I want you.”

Meeting her gaze, Lan Wu instinctively reached out to caress Ji Lingyue’s cheek. Instead, Ji Lingyue caught her hand, boldly leaning forward to take Lan Wu’s fingers into her mouth. Her tongue swirled around them, her eyes lifting to meet Lan Wu’s with a look of innocent seduction.

Lan Wu froze, her eyes widening in surprise. “Where did you learn to do that?”

Ji Lingyue paused, a bit uneasy. “Don’t you like it?”

“It’s not about liking or not, it’s just… it’s just…”

She wanted to explain, but the look of genuine confusion on Ji Lingyue’s face stopped her. With a sigh, she conceded, “I like it very much.”

Ji Lingyue’s face lit up with a smile. As she moved to embrace Lan Wu, she felt a sudden fullness between her legs, causing her to let out a sweet, sticky moan.

Lan Wu, her fingers caught between Ji Lingyue’s teeth, paused for a moment before she began to move, her wrist rotating as she slid in and out of that welcoming heat. With each thrust, a slick of arousal escaped, punctuated by soft, slick sounds. Lowering her head, Lan Wu captured Ji Lingyue’s lips, tasting the soft moans that escaped her throat.

“Ah… Lan Wu…” Ji Lingyue moaned, her body arching against Lan Wu’s. A fine sheen of sweat coated her skin. Time seemed to melt away until, with a sudden blink, she furrowed her brow, her voice a breathless murmur. “Lan Wu… Lan Wu…”

“What is it?”

Ji Lingyue gasped, struggling to catch her breath. “Don’t you… don’t you have a… ah… a class today…?”

Lan Wu hesitated for a beat, then replied firmly, “No.”

“But I remember…”

“Trust me,” Lan Wu soothed, “would I lie to you?”

Ji Lingyue hesitated, finally giving up on recalling Lan Wu’s schedule. “Even if you did,” she mumbled, “I… I wouldn’t be able to… ah!”

Her breath hitched as a thumb brushed against her clit. She gripped Lan Wu’s shoulders, her voice trembling. “Anyway… I’ll always forgive you…”
