CHAPTER 57: Repay

Lan Wu carefully avoided the bodies lying on the floor, carrying a bowl of medicine as she made her way to the back of the crowded medical hall.
Unfortunately, the person she brought medicine to showed no gratitude. Upon seeing her face, they groaned in pain.
“Get away from me, you… cursed demon…”
Lan Wu placed the medicine bowl beside them without changing her expression, then turned to leave.
Her steps were steady, her silver hair swaying gently behind her like fine silk catching fragments of light, appearing out of place in the dark, chaotic environment. Many directed hateful glances her way, occasionally mixing in curses, but Lan Wu acted as if she hadn’t heard, leaving the medical hall to deliver the next bowl of medicine.
It wasn’t until dawn that those who had gone to collect the bodies gradually returned. Ji Lingyue was followed by several young Haochen Mountain disciples, their faces showing exhaustion, their usually pristine robes now stained with blood.
After taking a long drink of water, she glanced around and asked a random disciple, “Have you seen Lan Wu?”
“Lan Wu? That silver-haired demon?” The disciple pointed towards the edge of town. “I think she went that way.”
Ji Lingyue thanked them and followed the direction, walking out of town and climbing up a slope before finally seeing the person sitting on the cliff.
The sea breeze carried a salty coolness. Ji Lingyue lowered her gaze, slowly walked forward, and sat down beside Lan Wu. After a while, she gently leaned her head against her.
Lan Wu stirred, turning to look at her: “Are you tired?”
Ji Lingyue hummed in response. “Where’s Ah Li?”
“I sent her back.”
“Back?” Ji Lingyue lifted her head in surprise. “By herself?”
“Of course not. I asked Shanye to take her back.” Lan Wu sighed. “Once word of this incident spreads, demons remaining in the human realm will be in danger. It’s too risky for her to stay with me.”
“Did she agree to go?”
“Of course not.” Lan Wu gave a wry smile. “I had to tie her up and hand her over to Shanye.”
Ji Lingyue pressed her lips together. “Lan Wu… did you… find any useful clues?” she asked softly.
Lan Wu shook her head. “To be honest, I don’t even know what I’m looking for…”
Fuyou had only instructed her to head east. She had followed her words, coming ashore and traveling for days, but everything remained a blur. She had no idea what she was supposed to find.
She sighed and buried her face in her knees, feeling dejected. “I seem to be as useless as before.”
After a moment of silence, Ji Lingyue nudged her with her shoulder. “What do you know so far?”
“Why do you ask?” Lan Wu tilted her head, looking at her. “Do you want to help me?”
“What else?” Ji Lingyue retorted, a hint of annoyance in her voice. “You promised that after we’re done with all this, we’d be together, go wherever we want.”
Lan Wu’s eyes curved in a smile as she straightened up and pulled out a stone tablet from her storage bag. “This is all I have. I found it buried near the place where my father was murdered…”
Ji Lingyue took a closer look and saw that the stone tablet was incomplete, more like a fragment. It was about the width of a pinky finger and the size of a palm, with a few characters that looked like random scribbles.
Lan Wu’s voice drifted to her ears. “Even Fuyou hasn’t seen characters like these before, let alone understood them. Judging by the shape of the break, it seems it was violently broken. I believe it’s connected to my father’s killer…”
Ji Lingyue frowned. “I think I’ve seen this script before,” she said suddenly.
Lan Wu fell silent, blinking in surprise. After a moment, she asked, “What did you say?”
“I think I’ve seen them,” Ji Lingyue repeated. “Twenty years ago, I was passing through Yunhuang when I saved a master and disciple from a demon attack. The book the master was holding had writing like this.”
“Yunhuang?”
Ji Lingyue nodded. “It’s a country on the westernmost part of the Xuan Yuan Continent. They revere the White Deer as their totem and worship the benevolent Deer God, Cirong, who is said to bring blessings to all.”
Lan Wu’s eyes widened slightly, staring at her without blinking.
If Yunhuang was in the west, why did Fuyou’s prophecy point her east?
After a long silence, her eyelashes fluttered. “I see…” she whispered, her voice hoarse.
Ji Lingyue responded with a puzzled hum.
Lan Wu laughed suddenly, reaching out to cup her face, though her eyes gradually reddened. “So what I’ve been searching for, from beginning to end, has always been you.”
Three days later
Outside Jinghai Town, a light drizzle fell as a young man in white held an umbrella, unable to resist asking, “Senior Sister, are you really not coming back with us?”
Ji Lingyue nodded. “With Qing Zibai leading you, there shouldn’t be any major problems. I still have things to do, so I won’t be going with you.”
Gu Changli frowned, glancing at the mermaid standing a short distance away.
The mermaid’s face was still hidden behind the silver mask, long hair flowing down, appearing lazy and relaxed.
He hesitated for a moment before asking, “Senior Sister, do you really trust this demon?”
“Whether I trust her or not is my business, not yours,” Ji Lingyue replied, then looked at Qing Zibai standing behind. She nodded. “Please take care of them.”
Qing Zibai shook his head. “There’s no need to say that, I am their senior brother, this is what I should do.”
Ji Lingyue nodded, looking steadily at Qing Zibai, noting that he did indeed resemble Qing He somewhat, just as she had said. The City Lord’s lineage of Wangliang City… they were indeed from the same clan as her.
However, she didn’t plan to tell Qing Zibai about this. After watching them head north, Ji Lingyue retrieved her flying ship from her storage ring and boarded it with Lan Wu.
It was Lan Wu’s first time on such a flying artifact. She explored it thoroughly and found that it was surprisingly spacious, with four rooms: three bedrooms and a study. It was fast too, almost as fast as sword flying, but it was quite costly, consuming a hundred high-grade spiritual stones for every thousand miles.
Lan Wu spent some time outside, enjoying the breeze until her curiosity waned. Then she headed to the study, where she found Ji Lingyue seated upright at the desk, brush gliding fluidly across the rice paper.
Peeking over her shoulder, Lan Wu saw the outline of a portrait taking shape. She couldn’t help but exclaim, “Your painting skills have certainly improved.”
After all, back when they parted ways, Ji Lingyue could barely draw a phoenix without it looking like a chicken.
Ji Lingyue ignored her, swiftly sketching the portraits from memory. Once finished, she set the paper aside to dry. “I only remember their names and appearances. Once we reach Yunhuang, we’ll have to ask around. Finding them might not be easy.”
Lan Wu nodded. “This is already very good.”
Ji Lingyue turned to look at Lan Wu and suddenly said, “For all this help, shouldn’t you repay me somehow?”
Lan Wu nodded, hands behind her back, smiling warmly. “How should I repay you?”
Ji Lingyue stepped closer, hesitated for a moment, then looped her arm around Lan Wu’s neck, pulling her down for a quick peck on the lips. “Like this.”
Lan Wu blinked, then wrapped her arms around Ji Lingyue’s waist, lifting her into her arms. After reversing their positions, she lifted her head, closed her eyes, and kissed Ji Lingyue’s lips.
Even late into the night, soft gasps and moans continued to echo from the cabin as the flying ship sailed through the clouds.
“Lan Wu…”
“Hmm?”
Lan Wu trailed her fingers along the curve of Ji Lingyue’s hip, dipping lower to brush against the sensitive bud hidden within her folds. A soft moan escaped Ji Lingyue’s lips, a trickle of arousal trickled down onto the bed. Lan Wu shifted, her fingertip slipping into the slick entrance, eliciting a shuddering sigh from the woman beneath her.
Lan Wu pressed closer, her lips closing around a hardened nipple as she slid a finger deeper inside. Ji Lingyue sighed contentedly, instinctively holding her head closer.
“Lan Wu,” she mumbled, her voice hazy with desire, “so cold…”
Lan Wu lifted her head, pressing a kiss to the corner of Ji Lingyue’s eye. “Not for long.”
With a roll of her hips, Lan Wu pushed two fingers deeper, her palm rubbing against the swollen clit. Ji Lingyue bucked, her legs wrapping tightly around Lan Wu’s waist as a string of incoherent moans tumbled from her lips.
A sudden wave of heat washed over Lan Wu’s hand. She paused, realizing with a start that Ji Lingyue’s eyes had gone unfocused, her legs trembling as another wave of pleasure crashed over her.
Chuckling softly, Lan Wu shifted their positions, grabbing a pillow to cushion Ji Lingyue’s hips. While the woman was still lost in the throes of pleasure, Lan Wu entered her from behind, her movements a steady rhythm against the soft flesh.
Ji Lingyue’s walls clenched rhythmically around Lan Wu’s finger. Lan Wu rotated it slowly, calloused fingertips grazing sensitive flesh deep inside. Ji Lingyue gasped, clutching the sheets, the delicate bones of her back becoming visible beneath her skin. Her hips trembled and rose, seeking more contact, while her face buried into the tangled blankets, whimpering softly.
Bending down, Lan Wu lightly nipped at the soft flesh of Ji Lingyue’s ass, then trailed kisses up her spine, each one gentle and fleeting. But her touch below was far from gentle. Her wrist moved with increasing urgency, leaving a slick trail of moisture.
At first, Ji Lingyue could only manage soft moans, but soon even those were lost to breathless gasps. Her flushed core continued to hungrily swallow the long fingers, never tiring, as her juices flowed non-stop, soaking the area between her thighs and leaving her legs wet and muddy.
After several intense climaxes, Ji Lingyue finally couldn’t take it anymore. She whimpered, reaching for Lan Wu’s hand, but Lan Wu was still lost in the throes of passion. She pulled Ji Lingyue closer, cupped one of her soft breasts, and kept rubbing her sensitive clit. “What’s wrong?” she murmured against Ji Lingyue’s flushed ear. “Doesn’t it feel good?”
Ji Lingyue shook her head, her voice trembling. “It feels good, but… but please, no more…”
“Shhh,” Lan Wu soothed, her fingers still teasing the damp heat between Ji Lingyue’s legs, occasionally pinching the swollen bud. “Almost there…”
With a final thrust, her finger slipped back inside. Ji Lingyue arched against her, her pale skin flushed and damp with sweat and kisses. The pleasure building between her legs was almost unbearable, a delicious ache spreading through her core. As Lan Wu brushed against a particularly sensitive spot, Ji Lingyue cried out, tears spilling down her cheeks.
“You… you’re awful…”
Lan Wu laughed, her bright eyes widening innocently, yet with a hint of demonic mischief.
“But I’m just repaying you, my dear master.”
