From the break of dawn, the sound of crackling fireworks had been echoing nonstop outside the window.
After sitting still for a long time, Lan Wu blinked and slowly stood up, walking out of her room only to be startled by the bursts of fireworks. She instinctively took a step back, her gaze lifting to see a blurry figure coughing in the thick white smoke, waving away the choking haze as she gradually came into view.
“Good morning, Lan Wu.”
Lan Wu furrowed her brows. “What are you doing?”
“Isn’t it obvious? Making fireworks.”
“Why here?” Lan Wu pointed at the rooftop, where the tiles had split and scattered. “You’re going to blow the house apart.”
Yu Shanye waved her hand dismissively. “It’s not that easy to blow up. If you’re really worried, just set up a barrier. Once I’m done…”
Before she could finish, she met Lan Wu’s piercing gaze and coughed awkwardly, changing the subject. “You’ve been in a mood these days. What’s wrong? Did Ah Yue not write back?”
Lan Wu was silent for a moment, then shook her head and wordlessly returned to her room. A short while later, she came out carrying a bundle.
Yu Shanye looked puzzled. “Where are you going?”
She tossed the bundle into her storage ring with a short reply: “To find her.”
She had said she would return before the New Year, but now, she was already nine and a half hours late. That was unlike Ah Yue.
Growing more anxious by the moment, Lan Wu summoned her silver sword and stepped lightly onto it. “If I’m not back by tomorrow, go see Master on your own.”
“Do you know where she is?”
“Of course,” Lan Wu glanced down at her, her blue eyes under silver lashes glowing with an otherworldly light. “Ah Yue left me something.”
She raised her hand as she spoke, and a wisp of black mist coiled around her fingers, eventually forming a delicate butterfly.
“I’m off.”

Surprisingly, Lan Wu found Ji Lingyue’s location just a few hours after leaving Haochen Mountain.
The fluttering black butterfly disappeared into a human-sized mirror. Lan Wu circled the mirror a few times but found nothing unusual. After some hesitation, she set up a teleportation formation outside and tentatively reached out to touch the mirror’s surface.
Like a stone sinking into water, the moment her fingers made contact, the smooth surface rippled. Lan Wu’s vision went dark, and the next moment, she found herself in an unfamiliar environment.
Laughter and cheerful voices drifted in the air. She turned and followed the sound, soon spotting Ji Lingyue, who had been worrying her.
Ji Lingyue was sitting cross-legged on a stone in the forest stream, her eyes closed, as if she were simply resting.
…If not for the countless mermaids surrounding her.
Lan Wu raised an eyebrow in surprise. As she approached, she realized that the mermaids all looked exactly like her, lazily lounging around Ji Lingyue, some laughing, some complaining, their eyes sparkling as they cooed, “Ah Yue…”
Lan Wu couldn’t help but shiver.
She grimaced and patted her cheeks before gliding over the water, landing lightly in front of Ji Lingyue. “Ah Yue.”
Ji Lingyue’s eyelashes fluttered. This “Lan Wu” looked so real it was hard to tell the difference. But after a moment of hesitation, she kept her eyes closed and said coldly, “Stay away from me.”
“Huh?”
Lan Wu blinked, leaning in closer with an amused smile. “Stay away? Really?”
Ji Lingyue didn’t reply.
This was too real.
She bit her lip as a familiar scent surrounded her. A gentle hand touched her cheek. “If you don’t open your eyes, I’ll really leave.”
Ji Lingyue hesitated for a long time before finally, unable to resist the turmoil in her heart, cautiously opened her eyes a crack. The familiar face immediately came into view. She stared at the woman in front of her, and in that instant, a breeze swept through, scattering the countless “mermaids” around her like smoke.
“Lan Wu.”
Lan Wu smiled, caught her outstretched hands, and pulled her to her feet. “What happened? Weren’t you supposed to return last night?”
“I was,” Ji Lingyue said softly. “But I found this mirror along the way. Something felt off, so I took a closer look… and got trapped.”
Lan Wu nodded. “And what about all those mermaids that looked like me?”
Ji Lingyue fell silent, guiltily averting her gaze. “I don’t know.”
“Really?”
After another moment of silence, under Lan Wu’s unwavering stare, Ji Lingyue’s head drooped lower and lower, and she mumbled, “It seems like…”
Lan Wu didn’t catch it. “What?”
She quickly said, “Whatever I think of, it turns into that.”
Lan Wu blinked, feigning surprise. “So all those ‘Lan Wu’s were because you were thinking of…”
Before she could finish, Ji Lingyue covered her mouth. “I didn’t think of you that many times! It’s the mirror’s fault for making so many!”
Lan Wu chuckled, wrapping her arms around Ji Lingyue’s waist, her voice muffled. “Alright, enough teasing. Let’s get out of here.”
“How?”
“I set up a teleportation formation earlier,” Lan Wu said as she began forming hand seals. “Hold on tight. We’ll be out soon.”
Ji Lingyue nodded and wrapped her arms around her. But even after Lan Wu completed the spell and waited in silence, nothing happened.
Lan Wu: “…Ahem, let me try again.”
She repeated the spell several more times, each attempt growing more awkward. Finally, she bit her lip. “Looks like… we’re stuck.”
Ji Lingyue sighed and silently let go.
The quiet forest gradually transformed into a sunlit room in the afternoon. Lan Wu blinked, her gaze falling on the table and chairs not far away. “What’s this?”
Ji Lingyue shrugged. “I wanted to rest, so it turned into this.”
Lan Wu tilted her head thoughtfully, “So it only reflects your thoughts, not mine.”
“Really? What are you thinking?”
“I’m thinking,” Lan Wu paused, glancing at Ji Lingyue before leaning in to peck her cheek lightly, “of that night on the winter solstice.”
As soon as she finished speaking, the room around them transformed into a narrow cabin, the rocking motion and the sound of waves exactly as she remembered.
Lan Wu glanced around and sighed. “See? It only changes when you remember…”
Suddenly, she lost her balance and fell. Instead of hitting the ground, she landed on a soft bed. She pushed herself up and caught sight of her tousled clothes and a shimmering silver fishtail trailing from the bed.
“What are you thinking now?” she asked, flustered.
Ji Lingyue, who had somehow appeared in her arms, blushed furiously, “It’s your fault! You brought up that night on the winter solstice. Don’t blame me.”
Lan Wu: “But how do you remember it so clearly?”
“I, I,” Ji Lingyue stammered for a few moments, her eyes gradually turning red.
She decided to cut Lan Wu off by pressing her lips to hers, not allowing her to ask any more questions. Lan Wu was stunned for a moment before cupping Ji Lingyue’s face and deepening the kiss. Silver scales began to emerge uncontrollably from her skin, and her breathing grew ragged. Between kisses, she murmured, “Do you really like my demon form that much?”
Ji Lingyue’s eyelashes fluttered, and she closed her eyes.
Her fully transformed body was much longer than her human form, and the small cabin bed could barely contain her. Lan Wu climbed up slightly, amused, and pecked Ji Lingyue’s lips. Her hand slid over Ji Lingyue’s firm abdomen, disappearing into the shadows.
“Mmm…”
The person in her arms was breathing more and more heavily, rubbing against Lan Wu’s palm. Lan Wu leaned down to kiss her ear, her voice gentle. “Ah Yue, don’t you think the cabin is a bit cramped?”
Ji Lingyue tilted her head back, her glistening eyes fixed on the low ceiling as her body trembled slightly.
That night during the winter solstice was just like this. Lan Wu refused to use magic and insisted on taking her on a boat to see the grand scenery. But she didn’t see the legendary scenery. Instead, she had been pressed into a dark and cramped corner of the cabin, her consciousness gradually fading amidst the chaotic footsteps of people coming and going outside. She curled up in the arms of the mermaid, letting her do whatever she wanted…
Lan Wu couldn’t help but retort, “How can you turn this around on me? You were the one who said the lanterns on the sea weren’t worth seeing and dragged me back to the cabin.”
Ji Lingyue bit her lightly, whimpering, “You were hinting at it…”
“When did I hint at it?”
“You said, ‘The weather’s bad tonight, we might not see the lanterns…'”
Lan Wu: “That was just an observation, an observation! I didn’t…”
Before she could finish, a cold metal mask suddenly clamped tightly below her nose. Lan Wu was shocked, letting out a muffled sound, and quickly looked at the innocent, fragile Ji Lingyue in her arms.
The woman pursed her lips, her voice filled with grievance. “I don’t want to hear you talk.”
With that, she flipped Lan Wu onto her back, her legs pressing against the curved tail as she began to rock her hips gently. “Anyway, you, ah… you always, always tease me…” Her sensitive spot rubbed against the hard scales, and Ji Lingyue’s eyes narrowed with pleasure, her movements gradually speeding up. “Mmm, Lan Wu, Lan Wu…”
After a long moan, she collapsed as if all her strength had been drained, and after a while, she breathlessly lowered her flushed face, looking at the glistening liquid that had seeped into the gaps between the scales.
She chuckled hoarsely, her voice soft. “Lan Wu…”
Unable to speak with the mask on, Lan Wu could only stare at her intently. Ji Lingyue slowly leaned down, her lips brushing Lan Wu’s ear as she whispered, “Is it hot?”
Lan Wu was stunned. After a brief moment of confusion, she finally realized Ji Lingyue was teasing her.
As she was still processing this, the surroundings changed again. The metal mask on her chin disappeared, and she instinctively raised her head, only to bang it against a hard wooden board.
“Ouch!”
Lan Wu’s eyes watered from the pain. She shook her head and realized she was kneeling on a soft carpet, her head under a sturdy table, and in front of her was…
When she saw what was in front of her, her eyelashes fluttered. After a moment, she looked up at Ji Lingyue, who was sitting on the chair. Ji Lingyue also seemed confused. She was dressed in white robes, a jade crown on her head, her upper body dignified and majestic, but the part hidden under the table had her robes wide open, sandwiching Lan Wu between her legs.
When their eyes met, Lan Wu’s expression changed, and she sent Ji Lingyue a questioning look.
What on all heavens are you thinking?
Ji Lingyue bit her lip nervously, about to retreat, when a strange voice called out, “Master.”
She lifted her eyes in alarm, and her body stiffened even more when she saw a strange girl in the distance bowing respectfully. Lan Wu had also obviously heard this call. She tilted her head, then suddenly chuckled, reaching out to caress Ji Lingyue’s smooth knee, “Ah Yue, so you’ve thought about these things too.”
Ji Lingyue: “No, I didn’t…”
Before she could finish, the silver head buried itself down.
“Mmm!” Ji Lingyue’s body trembled, her back arching involuntarily as tears began to fall. “Ah, Lan Wu, it’s cold…”
The girl with the blurred face looked up, calling out in confusion, “Master?”
Ji Lingyue trembled even more, feeling the liquid seeping from the chair making everything slippery. “Mmm, no, I can’t…”
It’s too loud, she’ll definitely hear…
But it feels so good.
The mermaid blinked, as if sensing something, and lifted her radiant face, a mischievous smile playing on her lips. “Ah Yue.”
Ji Lingyue sobbed, her tear-filled eyes meeting Lan Wu’s.
“You’re not being good at all.”
Her heart clenched, and her body felt as if it were falling through the air, landing with a thud on a not-so-soft bed. The mermaid coiled around her like a snake, kissing her lips tenderly, her gaze casually sweeping over the dimly lit room. “Hmm? What is it this time?”
Ji Lingyue raised her hand and hugged her shoulders, kissing her even more passionately, as if trying to avoid the topic.
Lan Wu’s eyes curved into a smile, and she gently patted Ji Lingyue’s bottom. “Be good, relax a little…”
The person in her arms let out a few soft moans, obediently wrapping her legs around Lan Wu’s waist. Lan Wu held her close, her brows furrowing slightly as she felt something was off.
Ji Lingyue’s body seemed smaller than usual, and she herself also felt… slimmer…
As she was pondering this, the door was knocked on, and a gentle voice called out, “Ah Yue, time to get up.”
Ji Lingyue shuddered, burying her face in Lan Wu’s shoulder with a whimper.
Then, another crisp voice came from outside. “Mother, isn’t Sister getting up yet?”
“Yes, maybe she was too tired from hunting yesterday.”
“Then let her sleep a little longer.”
…
After a while, Lan Wu sighed. “…Ah Yue, where is this?”
Ji Lingyue buried her face in Lan Wu’s chest, refusing to look up. “I, I don’t know.”
“Lying again,”Lan Wu said helplessly, ruffling her hair. “Fine, where else do you want to go? Since we have this rare opportunity, let’s try everything.”
As soon as she finished speaking, the surroundings dissolved, and in front of them stood the grand and imposing Sea Palace. Lan Wu was dressed in intricate and luxurious mermaid attire, a delicate yet sharp crown on her head. On her lap, Ji Lingyue was completely naked, her long black hair cascading down as she leaned forward, her chest trembling.
“Suck it…”
Lan Wu looked at her with a smile, obediently leaning over. Ji Lingyue let out a soft moan, wrapping her arms around Lan Wu’s head, unaware that Lan Wu had subtly parted her knees, her hands gently caressing Ji Lingyue’s thighs.
Glittering droplets flowed out, and the mermaid’s soft tendrils coiled around her body, drinking in the sweet nectar, gradually finding the source of the spring. Ji Lingyue gasped, trying to pull away, but Lan Wu held her down. “Be good.”
She kissed the tears at the corners of Ji Lingyue’s eyes, “Isn’t this what you wanted?”
“No, mmm…”
Ji Lingyue rested her chin on Lan Wu’s shoulder, tears rolling down like pearls, quickly soaking the exquisite fabric of her clothes.
“You clearly like it very much,” Lan Wu whispered. “This is a reflection of your desires.”
Ji Lingyue whimpered, her body trembling as if caught in a storm. Lan Wu kissed her cheek, her palm gently massaging to prolong the pleasure. “Does it feel good?”
Ji Lingyue sniffled, her voice trembling. “It feels good…”
“What else do you want?”
She pursed her lips, murmuring softly, “Lick…”
Lan Wu chuckled. “I knew it.” She ruffled Ji Lingyue’s disheveled hair and asked, “How do you want me to lick it?”
Ji Lingyue didn’t answer directly, but the surroundings changed again. In a dense forest with towering ancient trees, rough vines sprouted from Lan Wu’s body, winding around Ji Lingyue’s slender limbs, leaving red marks on her pale skin.
The bound woman, unable to struggle, kept her eyes tightly shut, her face burning as she stammered, “L-Like this…”
Lan Wu raised an eyebrow, amused. “Alright.”
Early the next morning, Yu Shanye pushed open her door, ready to take in a breath of fresh air, only to see Lan Wu descending from the sky with someone in her arms.
She was startled and quickly ran over. “What happened? Is she hurt?”
Lan Wu shook her head. “She’s fine, just tired.”
“Where did you find her?”
Lan Wu hesitated. “In a secret realm.”
“A secret realm?”
“Yeah.”
“How did you get out?”
“When the time was up, we just came out.”
Lan Wu turned away, trying to appear calm. She didn’t dare tell Yu Shanye what had happened, nor did she dare mention that as soon as Ji Lingyue passed out, she had successfully used the teleportation formation to leave.
She quickened her pace toward her own small house. “Alright, I just got out of the secret realm, and I’m exhausted. Let me rest, and then we’ll go see Master together.”
