The next morning, Lan Wu, feeling refreshed, walked over to the wrecked car with an umbrella in hand.
The vampire’s corpse had been baked black by the scorching sun and would likely turn to ash soon. She stepped over the body without a second thought, rummaged through the car for Ji Lingyue’s backpack, and then headed into the nearby supermarket.
Yesterday’s events had been so sudden that she hadn’t had a chance to explore the place properly. Now, after a thorough search for supplies, she was horrified to discover piles of dismembered bodies stacked in the cold storage, almost stacked to the ceiling.
The stench of decay hit her like a wave. Lan Wu grimaced, slamming the door shut and grabbing the remaining food before hurrying back to the motel across the street. To her surprise, the previously empty hallway was now crowded with a few zombies, clawing at the door and growling. Lan Wu shoved them aside, squeezing into the dim room, though not without getting some filth on herself.
“Ugh.”
She shook her hands in disgust, carrying the backpack into the bathroom. Soon, the sound of running water echoed through the thin glass door, reaching Ji Lingyue’s ears.
“Mmm…” Ji Lingyue groaned, frowning as she turned over in bed, burying her face under the pillow. When Lan Wu emerged, drying her hair, Ji Lingyue was still curled up under the blankets, only her bandaged leg peeking out.
Seeing this, Lan Wu tiptoed to the bedside, carefully unwrapping the bandage to check the wound. The once-gruesome gash had scabbed over, with a faint pink hue around the edges, indicating good healing. Relieved, she leaned down and whispered, “Wake up, sleepyhead. The sun’s high in the sky.”
After a moment with no response, Lan Wu gently lifted the pillow. “Aren’t you suffocating under there?”
Ji Lingyue lay motionless on the bed, her face buried in her arms, her long lashes resting peacefully. Lan Wu studied her for a while, then poked her cheek. “Wake up.”
Finally, Ji Lingyue frowned, turning her head away. “Don’t wanna…”
Lan Wu hummed, sliding closer and wrapping her arms around Ji Lingyue’s bare waist. Her lips brushed against Ji Lingyue’s neck.
“Really don’t wanna?”
Ji Lingyue’s voice was hoarse. “No biting.”
“I won’t,” she murmured, planting a soft kiss on the back of Ji Lingyue’s neck. Her fingers gently kneaded the soft skin of Ji Lingyue’s stomach, causing the girl to shiver and curl up, “Mmm, don’t squeeze…”
“It’s okay, I’ll be gentle.”
Lan Wu’s hand slid lower, finding the sensitive clit between Ji Lingyue’s legs.
“You, mmm…” Ji Lingyue bit her lip, her face flushed. “You’re so annoying…”
“Am not,” Lan Wu mumbled, cupping Ji Lingyue’s breast and playing with it as she leaned in for a kiss. “Don’t hate me.”
“You are annoying, mmm…”
Ji Lingyue instinctively closed her eyes, her body pressed beneath Lan Wu’s slender frame. The vampire’s lips were soft, but her tongue was cold. Ji Lingyue wrapped her arms around Lan Wu’s bare back, soon breathless from the kiss. Meanwhile, Lan Wu’s fingers teased her entrance, slipping inside.
Ji Lingyue’s lashes fluttered as she let out a soft moan, weakly pushing at Lan Wu’s shoulders. Lan Wu blinked, reluctantly ending the kiss but continuing to peck at Ji Lingyue’s lips.
For some reason, since last night, Lan Wu had felt an overwhelming urge to hold Ji Lingyue close, to mold her like clay, or to stick to her side and play with her however she pleased.
But humans… ah, humans were so fragile. The slightest pressure made them cry out in pain, and their skin bruised so easily. They were nothing like the dolls Lan Wu had played with as a child, which could endure any treatment without complaint.
Like now, just a gentle touch inside Ji Lingyue made her curl up in pleasure.
“Ah… haa, slower…”
Tears welled in the corners of her eyes, and the quiet room filled with her fragmented moans. Ji Lingyue groaned, shrinking into Lan Wu’s arms, but then she heard an odd sound.
Scratch… scratch…
As if something was clawing at the door.
She barely managed to open her eyes, looking at the closed door a few feet away. “What… mmm… what’s that sound?”
Lan Wu glanced at the door absently. “Oh, it’s the zombies.”
Ji Lingyue froze. “What zombies?”
“What else could they be? The zombies in the motel. They probably heard your voice and came over.”
Ji Lingyue was speechless.
Ji Lingyue’s eyes widened, her voice trembling. “You mean… they’re listening to me…?”
“It’s okay, don’t worry about them.”
Lan Wu soothed her, kissing her head, her fingers moving deeper inside. “You can moan as loud as you want.”
“No… it’s… it’s not okay…”
She arched her back, her feet kicking against the sheets. “I don’t want this anymore…”
“It’s fine.”
“It’s not.”
“It doesn’t…”
Ji Lingyue suddenly raised her voice. “Lan Wu!”
Lan Wu jumped, startled. “Huh?”
Ji Lingyue glared at her. “Activate!”
The moment the word left her lips, Lan Wu yelped and fell to the floor. Ji Lingyue sat up, panting. “It’s. Not. Fine!”
As if to emphasize her point, the door was slammed from the outside, the zombies seemingly eager to get in. Ji Lingyue bit her lip, her eyes glistening with tears as she shot Lan Wu a glare. She got out of bed, completely naked. “I’m going to take a shower.”
Lan Wu, clutching her neck, gasped for breath. “Wait… wait…”
Ji Lingyue huffed, walking past her. “Stop.”
Lan Wu collapsed to the floor, her eyes red and teary. “You’re the worst human in the world.”
“And you’re the worst vampire in the world.”
With that, Ji Lingyue slammed the bathroom door shut. “Don’t forget to bring me my clothes.”
