Chapter 110: The End

Gui Jiu obeyed. The doors slammed shut with a resounding boom, leaving no gap. The hall was plunged into darkness, illuminated only by the shimmering night pearls overhead.

Sensing something amiss, the visitors turned around just as the Sect Leader unleashed her colorless spiritual energy, forming a visible, impenetrable barrier across the entrance.

“What is the meaning of this?!” the middle-aged man roared.

“You barge into my Wuhui Sect and make demands. What do you think I’m doing?” the Sect Leader replied calmly. She gestured to Luo Jinxiao with a flick of her hand and a raised eyebrow.

“How dare you detain us! Do you not fear the wrath of the Celestial Authority?” the middle-aged man sputtered, drawing his sword only to stumble and nearly collapse.

“Using a formation? How despicable!”

They had assumed the Wuhui Sect would hand over Qu Weiyin to save face, but they never expected the Sect Leader to boldly detain them in broad daylight.

“I’ve always disliked your kind, using the pretense of unity to seize power while greedily seeking personal gain. I’ve tolerated you out of courtesy, but today, before we address the larger issue, I’ll deal with you first, leaving a clean and righteous environment for future generations.”

“You dare call yourselves leaders of the righteous path? Shameless!” someone shouted. But before the words could fully register, Luo Jinxiao flicked her wrist, silencing the offender.

Gasps filled the hall.

“I’ve already explained everything I needed to last time. If anyone dares to speak out of turn again, I won’t be so lenient,” Luo Jinxiao warned, her sword, Wujue, held firmly in her hand as she stood amidst the crowd.

“Luo Jinxiao, beat them up!” Yan Ying cheered from the sidelines, pumping her fist.

“You want to sacrifice Qu Weiyin to the heavens?” Luo Jinxiao approached the Sect Leader of the Shengsi Sect and kicked him in the knee, sending the thin man crashing to his knees. He cursed under his breath.

“Instead of dealing with the natural disaster, you blame innocent people. You’re nothing but a coward,” Luo Jinxiao hissed, delivering another kick that sent him sprawling into a corner.

The man cried out in pain, but he was bound and unable to use his cultivation. Witnessing this, the others fell silent, no longer daring to provoke her.

Even villains feared those more ruthless than themselves. They never expected the renowned Wuhui Sect to be so disrespectful!

Luo Jinxiao returned to Qu Weiyin’s side and raised her hand. Her oppressive aura descended upon the bound captives, causing them to writhe in agony, some even vomiting blood.

“Stop! Stop! Sect Leader, we were wrong! We were wrong!”

Finally, unable to bear the pain, some began to beg for mercy, even kneeling and kowtowing to the Sect Leader.

The Sect Leader remained silent until the middle-aged man collapsed, his eyes rolled back in his head, lifeless. Only then did she pat Luo Jinxiao’s shoulder, signaling her to stop.

“That’s enough, Jinxiao. The Celestial Authority has been stirring up trouble for a long time. A lesson is enough.”

Luo Jinxiao withdrew her power, and those on the steps below immediately crumpled, not daring to make a sound.

She snorted and took Qu Weiyin’s hand, winking at her. “Am I awesome or what?”

Qu Weiyin hadn’t lifted a finger, yet her offenders were begging for forgiveness. A warmth spread through her chest as she nodded slowly.

“You can leave now. I’ll handle this,” the Sect Leader said.

As she stood up, the ground suddenly shook violently. A distant, explosive sound echoed through the air, loud enough to shake the heavens and leave everyone dizzy.

Luo Jinxiao’s heart felt like it was being crushed under a boulder.

Suddenly, the doors of the hall burst open, and a gust of wind swept through the room, whipping their robes and stinging their skin.

Screams erupted from all around. Luo Jinxiao rushed outside and looked up. The sky, already pale from the dark clouds, now appeared to be splitting open, revealing the lightning hidden within the darkness.

“What’s happening?” A disciple cried out in terror, staring at the sky.

Chaos erupted everywhere. Amidst the deafening noise, Luo Jinxiao snapped out of her shock and frantically searched for Qu Weiyin. Finally, she found her hand amidst the turmoil and grasped it tightly.

The feeling of Qu Weiyin’s soft hand in hers brought a sliver of calm to her racing heart.

“What’s going on?” Qu Weiyin’s voice rang out, firm and composed despite the chaos.

“This must be the catastrophe Luo Ning mentioned,” Luo Jinxiao replied, pulling Qu Weiyin towards the entrance. The crack in the sky had widened, and a deafening roar of thunder echoed as a massive bolt of lightning struck a distant mountain, obliterating it in an instant.

The sight terrified the disciples, even the visitors from the Celestial Authority huddled in the corners, their eyes wide with fear.

None of them had ever witnessed the world on the brink of destruction.

Another bolt of lightning struck, this time aimed directly at the Wuhui Sect. The protective barrier that had shielded the sect for centuries shattered under the force of the impact. Luo Jinxiao and Qu Weiyin instinctively rushed out of the hall, raising their hands to form a shield against the incoming lightning.

Meanwhile, the Sect Leader soared into the air on her sword, her silver hair whipping in the wind, her white robes billowing around her. She struggled to maintain her position against the onslaught of lightning.

There was no other option but to endure.

Deep fissures formed on the ground, a blinding light shot towards Wuzhong City, instantly obliterating centuries of prosperity.

Heart-wrenching screams echoed from below, blending with the sound of weeping. Luo Jinxiao felt her head pounding.

She looked up at the menacing crack in the sky, a cruel mockery hanging above them.

“Sister!” Luo Ning’s voice suddenly called out from behind. Luo Jinxiao instinctively stretched out her arms, and a new barrier began to form, emanating from her palms. The air solidified, becoming a hard, transparent film that enveloped the entire Wuhui Sect.

Those inside couldn’t leave, and the lightning outside couldn’t penetrate.

“Luo Jinxiao, what are you doing? Come back!” Lu Fanzhi cried from the entrance of the Wuhui Palace, but she couldn’t break through the barrier Luo Jinxiao had created.

Lightning continued to strike indiscriminately, leaving a trail of devastation across the land.

In the distance, flashes of various colors indicated other cultivators using their spiritual power to shield civilians from the lightning, flickering on and off in waves.

“Go back!” Luo Jinxiao shouted to Qu Weiyin, her voice barely audible above the roaring wind.

Qu Weiyin ignored her. Her red robes were nearly ripped apart by the wind. She discarded them, letting them fly away like a giant bird, revealing her fitted sleeves as she stood tall and defiant.

“Whatever you do, I’ll do it with you,” Qu Weiyin declared, her gaze fixed on the sky, the lightning reflected in her beautiful eyes.

“No,” Luo Jinxiao grabbed her wrist. “Go back. Listen to me, just this once.”

“Luo Jinxiao,” Qu Weiyin’s voice rose above the wind as she wrenched her hand free. Her phoenix eyes glistened with unshed tears. “I’ve never been afraid of death, only of living alone.”

“I’m only afraid of losing you!”

Her words were filled with suppressed emotion. Luo Jinxiao was stunned, and in that moment, Qu Weiyin had already soared towards the enormous crack in the sky.

The Crescent Star Sword appeared in her hand, its golden light rivaling the lightning as it sliced through the air with a sizzling sound, meeting a bolt of lightning head-on.

A blinding flash erupted, and Qu Weiyin’s hand trembled, nearly losing her grip on the sword.

She didn’t retreat. She continued upwards, towards the sky. The rain poured down, drenching her. Her graceful figure appeared incredibly small against the vastness of the heavens.

Luo Jinxiao squeezed her eyes shut, her heart burning like a hot coal.

This wasn’t the first time Qu Weiyin had been injured in front of her. In the past, she had been powerless to help, and the pain of that memory still lingered. Now, she wanted to be selfish, just this once, and protect the one she loved.

Taking a deep breath, she suddenly rose to her feet. Divine power surged through her veins, and her blue robes instantly turned to ash, transforming into streaks of light. Her black hair billowed around her.

Just as another bolt of lightning struck, mere inches from Qu Weiyin, Luo Jinxiao grabbed her arm and pulled her behind her. Wujue clashed against the searing heat, creating a billowing cloud of black smoke as ice met fire.

Qu Weiyin gasped, her brow furrowed as she tried to speak, but Luo Jinxiao silenced her with a kiss.

Amidst the chaos and destruction, the kiss was brief yet eternal.

Luo Jinxiao’s kiss was cold, tinged with the taste of rain.

Then, she enveloped Qu Weiyin in her divine power and forced her back down to the ground. For the first time, Qu Weiyin panicked, struggling against the barrier and calling out Luo Jinxiao’s name.

But her voice was muffled and unclear.

A long-forgotten feeling surged through Luo Jinxiao’s chest as she looked up at the crack in the sky, meeting the abyss gaze for gaze. Voices echoed in her ears, and scattered fragments of divine power coalesced around her.

“What’s that? Look!” someone shouted from below, pointing towards a blinding white light in the distance.

The ground trembled as a massive island suddenly rose from the earth, slowly rotating.

High above, Luo Jinxiao had regained her divine form. She stood tall, her robes unmoved by the wind, her black hair flowing down to her ankles, her bare feet treading on clouds, bathed in light and shadow.

“That’s… that’s…”

“That’s a god!”

“Senior Sister Luo is a god!”

“The God Clan! It’s the God Clan! We’re saved!” Cheers erupted as people surged towards the barrier. Only Luo Ning remained, burying her face in Yan Ying’s embrace, sobbing uncontrollably.

The visitors from the Celestial Authority were stunned. They fell to their knees, bowing their heads in fear and awe.

Of all the people they could have offended, they had made an enemy of a god.

“May the God Clan protect us, may the heavenly gods bless us…”

Amidst the cries of despair and cheers of joy, a snow-white figure silently ascended towards the heavens, unnoticed by the crowd.

The long-dormant, crumbling God’s Burial Ground was bathed in a brilliant light, shining like the sun as it rose towards the clouds. The island’s radiance pierced through the layers of clouds, illuminating the earth below. The contrast between the menacing crack in the sky and the pristine white of the God’s Burial Ground was stark.

Luo Jinxiao stood atop the clouds, facing the lightning directly. The bolts struck her but had no effect, dissolved by the light surrounding her body, turning into tranquility.

“The powerful are always lonely.”

“You have power, and that power must be put to use.”

She looked back at the earth below. Despite the devastation, it was still breathtakingly beautiful. The Sea of Exile to the south, the glaciers to the north, the lush greenery on the ground, and the birds soaring through the air.

She had no desire to protect the wicked, only to ensure the longevity of those she loved and the eternal cycle of the mountains, rivers, and seas.

The image of a woman in red flickered in her vision, then vanished like a mirage. Luo Jinxiao smiled sadly, then turned back towards the crack, unleashing the full force of her power, drawing upon the scattered divine energy around her.

The ancient God Clan, in their defiance of the heavens, had sacrificed themselves here.

Driven by their immense power, the crack in the sky finally began to close. Lightning struck furiously, hitting Luo Jinxiao’s head and face.

She remained unmoved. Suddenly, everything around her became silent. The rift gradually shrank, the sky regaining its clarity, while Luo Jinxiao had exhausted all her strength.

She thought she heard someone calling her name, but it might have been a hallucination. Suddenly, a surge of anger coursed through her. With a roar of fury, she plunged into the closing crack.

Suddenly, a multitude of different spiritual energies, some faint, some powerful, rose into the air, filling the closing gap in the sky. A golden light shone particularly bright.

“Luo Jinxiao!” She heard Qu Weiyin’s cry, and another hand reached out, grasping hers in the boundless darkness.

A woman’s ethereal voice spoke to her. “You cannot die. There are still people waiting for you.”

“Sect Leader…” Luo Jinxiao reached out to grab the hand, but it slipped through her fingers like air.

“I miss Zhao Zhao,” the woman said with a chuckle. “She hasn’t returned for so long, she must be waiting for me to find her.”

Qu Weiyin had already broken free from the barrier and flown towards the closing crack, but she only managed to grasp a torn piece of fabric before the sky sealed shut.

The taste of blood filled her mouth, and she nearly choked. Her throat tightened, and she couldn’t utter a sound.

Her red robes danced and fluttered in the sky, a solitary figure against the vast expanse.

On the ground, people watched as the sky gradually cleared, realizing they had escaped death. They were overcome with a mixture of relief and fear, some collapsing to the ground, weeping uncontrollably.

The air crackled with anticipation, a feeling of something about to burst forth, yet held back.

“Luo Jinxiao…” Qu Weiyin finally whispered, clutching the torn fabric in her hand.

As if in response to her words, the air rippled, and something seemed to be struggling within. Qu Weiyin’s eyes widened, and before she could call out again, a figure tumbled out of the closing crack.

The last god in the world, clad in tattered, burnt robes, fell straight into her arms.

“I’m burning up!” Luo Jinxiao groaned, clinging to Qu Weiyin’s waist and burying her face in her chest.

Qu Weiyin was still in shock. The impact of Luo Jinxiao’s fall sent them both stumbling backward. She instinctively wrapped her arms around Luo Jinxiao.

“Jinxiao?” She couldn’t believe her eyes. She reached out to touch Luo Jinxiao’s soot-covered face, wiping away the grime to reveal her soft, pale skin.

Tears streamed down her face, leaving clean streaks on Luo Jinxiao’s cheeks.

“You scared me to death,” Qu Weiyin scolded, shaking her head. Overwhelmed with relief, she held Luo Jinxiao tightly, refusing to let go as they slowly descended to the ground.

A Suddenly, a deafening cheer erupted from the ground below, as if gathering the voices from all corners of the world. Countless people knelt, like a swarm of ants.

“Blessings of the heavens! Blessings of the heavens!”

“Junior Shishu…” The woman in her arms looked up, a wide grin revealing her white teeth, stark against her blackened face. “I kept my promise. I finally protected you.”

“Now, no one will fear you or bully you anymore.”

Tears streamed down Qu Weiyin’s face, mixing with laughter. “Good,” she choked out.

Wrapped in her red robes, they landed gently on the ground. The sky was a clear, vibrant blue, and the sun finally emerged, drying the mud left by the rainstorm. After the chaos and destruction, a sense of peace settled over the land.
