Chapter 62: Five Years
Three days later, at Hanyun Pavilion.
When Qu Weiyin opened her eyes, she rolled onto the floor, breathing lightly and clutching her chest.
Outside, the sunlight was blinding, casting shadows through the window lattice onto the floor.
Qu Weiyin looked at her hands, momentarily unsure of where she was. When she stabbed Qu Chengzhou’s chest, his palm had shattered her heart as well. How could she still be alive?
Could she have been reborn again? But the sharp pain in her chest reminded her that she was still in this autumn day.
Qu Weiyin picked up the fallen lotus pouch, endured the pain as she rose, and stumbled towards the door. The room was eerily empty and silent. She nearly tripped several times on her trailing long skirt, her disheveled hair covering her face, looking utterly disheveled.
Why wasn’t Luo Jinxiao by her side?
A faint worry surfaced in Qu Weiyin’s heart. She had descended the cliff on her sword, but due to her severe injuries, she collapsed before reaching the bottom, falling onto the withered grass.
Just then, a few disciples happened to pass by. Seeing a figure lying in the grass, they rushed forward and helped her up. Upon seeing her face, they exclaimed in astonishment, “Junior Shishu Qu?”
Their shock was understandable. Elder He had just announced to the disciples that Junior Shishu Qu had died heroically while fighting demons. They had even mourned her passing.
They looked at each other, none daring to speak.
“Where is Luo Jinxiao?” Qu Weiyin wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth and asked in a low voice.
The disciples scratched their heads, shaking their heads and saying they hadn’t seen her.
Qu Weiyin pushed past them, heading towards Wuhui Palace to find Elder Liu. Seeing her struggle, the same disciples helped her by carrying her on their swords.
Elder Liu, who was busy handling matters, turned around and saw Qu Weiyin. He nearly thought he was hallucinating, dropping the letters in his hand.
“Elder Liu, where is Luo Jinxiao?” Qu Weiyin asked, clutching her chest.
Elder Liu was stunned for a moment before regaining his composure. He hurriedly helped Qu Weiyin to a seat, checked her pulse, and his expression grew even more astonished.
Although Qu Weiyin’s internal organs were in a terrible state, with almost none intact, at least she was alive.
For a dead person to suddenly revive was an incredible occurrence.
“Luo Jinxiao…” Elder Liu murmured. Could it be that Luo Jinxiao had found some way to pull Qu Weiyin back from the brink of death?
But even he was powerless. How could a young girl like her possess such cultivation?
Seeing that he couldn’t provide an explanation, Qu Weiyin struggled to get up again, but Elder Liu pressed her back down. He frowned, shaking his head. “Your body is too weak now. You can’t move around like this. I’ll send someone to find Jinxiao.”
Qu Weiyin’s hands were covered in sweat. She grabbed Elder Liu’s arm, her phoenix eyes wide with tears.
“Find her,” she said weakly.
Soon, the entire sect knew that Luo Jinxiao was missing. They searched high and low, but after half a day, they couldn’t find a trace of her, not even a hint of her presence.
It was as if she had vanished into thin air.
Qu Weiyin remained seated, silent and refusing treatment, like a withered tree waiting for its life-giving rain.
Finally, as the sky turned red with sunset clouds, no one brought good news. Lu Fanzhi and Luo Ning rushed in, covered in frost, panting. “Elder Liu, we’ve searched the entire Wuhui Mountain, but we couldn’t find Jinxiao.”
Luo Ning, her eyes red, shook her head. “That day, after Sister rushed out of Hanyun Pavilion, we don’t know what she did, and we haven’t seen her since.”
“Where could she have gone…” Luo Ning anxiously started pulling at her hair.
Qu Weiyin’s vision darkened, and she nearly fainted. Thankfully, Lu Fanzhi reached out to support her.
“Junior Shishu Qu, please focus on recovering. If… ifJinxiao returns later, she wouldn’t want to see you like this,” Lu Fanzhi said, her voice choked with sobs.
Yes, Luo Jinxiao would definitely return. How could she disappear without a trace? Qu Weiyin clutched her chest, unsure if it was from the pain or something else, tears streaming down her face and falling onto the ground.
Elder Liu sighed deeply.
“The only one who can heal those on the verge of death is the Sect Leader, but now the Sect Leader has long…”
Before Elder Liu could finish, Qu Weiyin abruptly stood up. She wiped away her tears and ran outside without hesitation.
The Sect Leader wasn’t dead. That meant Luo Jinxiao had gone to Southern Peak to plead with the Sect Leader to save her.
But why didn’t she come back? Why didn’t she even come to see her?
Elder Liu couldn’t stop her and let out a helpless sigh. He quickly pushed Lu Fanzhi forward. “Quick, you two follow her. Don’t let anything happen to her again!”
“None of them ever give me peace of mind!” Elder Liu was worried about Luo Jinxiao and angry at the same time. He flung his sleeves, picked up the scattered letters from the floor, and flipped through them irritably.
Elder Mei also entered, covered in frost, shaking her head wearily. “I’ve finally settled all the injured. This incident has cost our Wuhui Sect many disciples.”
“Indeed, and your little disciple has even requested to be exiled to Changqi to guard the Demon Tower.” Elder Liu tossed a letter to Elder Mei, fuming. “Qu Chengzhou even colluded with the Yan family. The Celestial Realm will interrogate the Yan family, but he didn’t spare even your little disciple from his schemes. Beast!”
Elder Mei looked at the letter, shaking her head angrily. “Since she requested it herself, let her go. After all, she helped the demons, so she deserves it.”
However, his expression couldn’t hide his dejection as he spoke.
Meanwhile, Qu Weiyin stumbled up Southern Peak. Without a word, she drew her sword and pointed it at the two disciples guarding the forbidden area, her eyes red. “Let me in.”
The two disciples were startled and said with worried expressions, “Junior Shishu Qu, it’s not that we don’t want to let you in, but a barrier has been placed around Southern Peak since yesterday. No one can enter.”
Qu Weiyin looked towards the void and swung her Crescent Star Sword. However, it was repelled midway, carrying immense spiritual power that nearly knocked her down. Lu Fanzhi and Luo Ning quickly supported her.
Luo Ning wiped away her tears and shook her head. “Junior Shishu Qu, please stop. We can’t get in.”
Qu Weiyin shook her head, pushing them away, and charged towards the barrier again. She coughed up blood and fell to her knees.
“Junior Shishu Qu!” Lu Fanzhi cried out. “Stop trying! If this is the case, then Luo Jinxiao must have traded something for your life. If something happens to you, wouldn’t all her efforts be in vain when she returns?”
Her heart-wrenching cries finally brought Qu Weiyin back to her senses.
Qu Weiyin looked at Lu Fanzhi blankly, tears streaming down her face. She then looked at the cold, snow-capped peak before her.
In this weather, if she was really inside the barrier, how cold she must be.
“Will she come back?” Qu Weiyin murmured, as if she had lost her soul.
“She will. Luo Jinxiao is tough. She will definitely come back to us,” Lu Fanzhi sobbed.
Qu Weiyin wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth and slowly stood up.
“Then I’ll wait for her here. I’m not going anywhere.” Qu Weiyin’s eyes were cold as she fiercely wiped away her tears with her sleeve.
“Luo Jinxiao, if you don’t come out, I’ll wait forever.” Her red lips trembled as she spoke each word with determination.
“Before my patience runs out, you must come out. Otherwise, I’ll forget you! I, Qu Weiyin, always keep my word.” Her words were harsh, but tears continued to stream down her face, making her eyes sting.
Behind her, Lu Fanzhi and Luo Ning were also crying uncontrollably. Lu Fanzhi choked on her sobs, her lips trembling as she wiped her tears and said, “Do you think… Luo Jinxiao could already be…”
“Shut up! My sister is definitely still alive. You just said she’s tough!” Luo Ning glared at her.
“But we don’t know what kind of suffering she’s enduring,” Lu Fanzhi shook her head.
Hearing this, Luo Ning looked at Qu Weiyin’s back. The more she looked, the more she felt the figure’s sorrow and fragility. She sniffed and said, “But I think Junior Shishu Qu is truly pitiful.”
“My Sister has me, you, and Elder Liu. But in Junior Shishu Qu’s life, there’s only my Sister.”
Now that the only person in her life was gone, the pain must be unbearable, like having her heart ripped out.
The catastrophe at the Wuhui Sect left sects across the land in fear, their hatred for the demon race deepening to their very core. However, after this battle, the demon race vanished without a trace.
The name of Qu Weiyin of the Wuhui Sect once again spread far and wide, becoming a figure of admiration and a topic of conversation.
It was said that she had fought against the demonic traitor Qu Chengzhou, perished together, and then miraculously revived. Afterward, her temperament changed drastically. She secluded herself, never to be seen, guarding a solitary peak.
Later, for some unknown reason, she finally descended the mountain. People occasionally caught glimpses of her, but those who did would shake their heads and sigh. They said that although Qu Weiyin possessed the beauty of a fairy, her temperament was strange. She never smiled and had a fierce demeanor that instilled fear in those who saw her.
At the same time, she often traveled the four seas and eight wildernesses, repeatedly traversing great mountains and famous rivers. She occasionally vanquished demons but always left immediately after, never interacting with others. It seemed she was alive, yet living alone.
However, the world was filled with eccentric individuals, so she was only occasionally mentioned in taverns under the dim lights. Most of the time, people had countless other gossips and rumors to discuss.
Time flowed slowly, like the fleeting passage of white steeds, its pace unhurried, and five years passed in a blink of an eye.
In a place where the four seasons never changed, perpetually covered in snow, at the highest point of Southern Peak, a few oddly shaped snowmen would occasionally appear.
One day, a strong wind suddenly blew, knocking the snowmen over and waking the woman sleeping on the ice bed.
The woman was dressed in blue. Even though the material had been magically treated, it looked worn.
She frowned slightly and sat up, her long black hair cascading almost to the ground. When she opened her eyes, her pupils were as dark as her hair, deep and bright, captivating anyone who gazed into them.
Her waist was slender and long, her shoulders delicate and straight. When she stretched, her clothes seemed tight and ill-fitting.
An old woman entered from outside. Seeing that she was awake, she smiled kindly. “Miss Luo, the Sect Leader has helped you fix your snowmen.”
Hearing this, a smile bloomed on Luo Jinxiao’s face, and she thanked the old woman.
However, her smile seemed somewhat cold and distant.
The old woman opened the door and walked out, heading towards the Sect Leader’s house through the wind and snow. She pondered, ever since Miss Luo arrived, this perpetually snow-covered peak had finally gained a bit of life.
At her age, witnessing a young and innocent girl blossom into a breathtakingly beautiful woman filled her with a sense of wonder.
However, this girl’s smile never seemed genuine, and there was no joy in her eyes. She resembled the Sect Leader in some ways.
