Chapter 95: Nightmare

As Qing Yi saw what happened, she let out a small yelp of surprise and quickly tried to wipe the spill with a handkerchief, saying hurriedly, “Demon Lord, I don’t know how this happened…”

Qu Weiyin raised her hand slightly, saying it was no matter. She then used her powers to evaporate the water stains from her clothes.

She got up and walked down from her seat, approaching Luo Jinxiao with an inquisitive look in her eyes.

Luo Jinxiao kept her head lowered. As Qu Weiyin’s skirt drew closer, her heartbeat grew increasingly frantic, almost audible.

Qu Weiyin stopped in front of her and said in a seductive yet cold voice, “Raise your head.”

Luo Jinxiao stiffened her neck and slowly raised her eyes. Meeting Qu Weiyin’s gaze.

Suddenly, Qu Weiyin reached out, her slender fingers gliding along Luo Jinxiao’s chin, leaving a cool, tingling sensation.

“Demon Lord!” Qing Yi emerged from behind and stopped beside Qu Weiyin, glancing at Luo Jinxiao from the corner of her eye while saying flatteringly, “Left King is still waiting for you in the side hall.”

Qu Weiyin impatiently withdrew her hand and turned to leave, her skirt sweeping past Luo Jinxiao’s ankles.

Qing Yi seemed to breathe a sigh of relief and hurried after Qu Weiyin, not forgetting to glare venomously at Luo Jinxiao.

Luo Jinxiao inwardly scoffed. Qing Yi’s body was practically clinging to Qu Weiyin as she walked, her little intentions painfully obvious.

“You all, wait for the Demon Lord at Cold Moon Hall,” Qing Yi instructed as she walked away with a swaying gait.

Luo Jinxiao followed the group, passing through dim corridors to an ancient stone door. Beyond lay Qu Weiyin’s Cold Moon Hall, which they weren’t qualified to enter. They could only wait outside.

Just as Luo Jinxiao calmed down from the excitement of seeing Qu Weiyin, a question arose in her mind: had Qu Weiyin truly forgotten her?

Yet, the sense of familiarity after their eye contact left her in a daze.

Lost in thought, she suddenly heard someone calling her. An armored guard instructed her to follow him to the side hall.

Luo Jinxiao gathered her thoughts and followed, though she realized they were taking a different route. She understood the situation but didn’t reveal her awareness, continuing to walk nonchalantly.

Just as they turned a corner, the guard suddenly turned around, a long saber emitting black energy slashing straight towards Luo Jinxiao’s head. But before the blade could touch her hair, it snapped in two.

The guard stared blankly at the hilt in his palm, then a cracking sound came from his neck, and he collapsed to the ground with a thud, his armor clattering loudly in the corridor.

Luo Jinxiao hadn’t even moved her hand. She raised an eyebrow, glanced behind her, and then hummed a tune as she stepped over the fallen guard.

A mere demon, overestimating himself.

Relying on her intuition, she made her way back to the main hall, passing by the guards nonchalantly, then arrived at the entrance of the side hall and listened attentively.

She easily concealed her presence, making her undetectable even to Qu Weiyin.

Yu Gui’s sickeningly sweet voice came from inside, seemingly arguing about something. His voice was raised, while Qu Weiyin remained silent.

Only after Yu Gui finished speaking did she coldly say, “I said destroy them all, and I meant it. Anyone who dares to say another word will have their neck snapped.”

Yu Gui fell silent for a moment, then said, “But Demon Lord, what if this provokes conflict? It would be disadvantageous to us!”

“You are defying me,” Qu Weiyin lowered her voice.

Another silence followed before Yu Gui quietly responded, “I wouldn’t dare.”

“Then do as I say. Bring anyone who dares to disobey to me, and I’ll personally make them obey,” Qu Weiyin finished. She suddenly strode towards the door, and Luo Jinxiao instantly vanished, reappearing at the Cold Moon Hall’s entrance.

The other girls waiting there were startled by her sudden appearance. Luo Jinxiao held a finger to her lips, signaling them to be quiet.

After a short while, Qu Weiyin’s red robe appeared at the end of the corridor. She walked towards them with long strides, the ribbons on her dress swaying from side to side with each step.

Qing Yi followed behind her, her eyes flashing sharply when she saw Luo Jinxiao unharmed.

“Demon Lord, please choose who you’d like to serve you,” Qing Yi said with a forced smile, then moved slightly to block Luo Jinxiao. However, Luo Jinxiao was nearly a head taller, making Qing Yi’s attempt futile.

Qu Weiyin didn’t even look. She seemed to be in a bad mood and casually pointed at Luo Jinxiao’s forehead, saying perfunctorily, “Her, then.”

Qing Yi nearly ground her teeth to dust. She reluctantly nodded and turned to open the door for Qu Weiyin.

Qu Weiyin stepped forward, and as she passed by Qing Yi, she suddenly turned her head, her phoenix eyes glancing down at her with an unreadable expression.

Luo Jinxiao followed Qu Weiyin into the room with her hands clasped behind her back, winking triumphantly at Qing Yi.

Qing Yi’s pale face instantly turned ashen.

Qu Weiyin’s room was quite bare. Besides some feminine items, there was only an intricately carved black iron sword case containing the Crescent Star Sword.

But it looked like it hadn’t been taken out for a long time.

Luo Jinxiao couldn’t help but look at Qu Weiyin, a hint of doubt flashing in her heart.

Qu Weiyin looked tired. She lowered her eyes and sat on the bed, leaning against the jade pillow. Luo Jinxiao didn’t know what to do and just stood by the door.

“Demon Lord, how about I give you a massage?” Qing Yi said, kneeling down and placing her hand on Qu Weiyin’s calf.

Luo Jinxiao felt her mind explode with anger. At that moment, Qing Yi suddenly screamed, falling backwards and hitting her head on the floor tiles.

She lay there, panting softly, then sat up, looking at Qu Weiyin in terror. With a tearful voice, she said, “Demon Lord, I just wanted to relieve your fatigue, I had no ulterior motives.”

Qu Weiyin slowly opened her eyes, looking at Qing Yi in confusion.

She parted her rosy lips slightly, “I didn’t move. Your massage was fine.”

Qing Yi nervously let out an “oh” and subconsciously looked at Luo Jinxiao, but Luo Jinxiao was looking at her toes as if nothing had happened.

Confused, she reached for a bunch of grapes on the table.

With a plop, the grapes fell.

Undeterred, she went to grab a teacup. With a crack, the cup shattered, spraying water on her face.

This time, Qing Yi’s anger exploded. She abruptly stood up and strode towards Luo Jinxiao, a dagger materializing in her hand. Without hesitation, she swung it towards Luo Jinxiao’s face.

Luo Jinxiao was about to retaliate when she suddenly saw a flash of red light. Her heart leaped with joy, and she withdrew her hand, turning her head away with a fearful expression.

Suddenly, a fair arm blocked her, effortlessly grabbing Qing Yi’s hand and forcing her to turn the blade away.

“D-Demon Lord,” Qing Yi stammered, “It must have been this wretch who was causing trouble just now! She even splashed tea all over you!”

Qu Weiyin stood beside Luo Jinxiao, shielding her with half of her shoulder, and turned to scold, “Get out.”

“But Demon Lord…”

“I’m tired. I don’t have time for you. Get out.” After finishing her sentence, Qu Weiyin released her grip, her arm falling to her side. The long-lost fragrance of flowers enveloped Luo Jinxiao.

Qu Weiyin’s berry-like full lips were right in front of her. Luo Jinxiao stared, barely resisting the urge to embrace her.

But to avoid being hit by Qu Weiyin, she held back for now.

Tears welled up in Qing Yi’s eyes. She glared at Luo Jinxiao with malice, then pushed the door open and left.

Qu Weiyin let out a sigh, as if suppressing something. She glanced at Luo Jinxiao indifferently and returned to the bed.

“You, come here,” she said.

Luo Jinxiao was overjoyed. Although Qu Weiyin didn’t recognize her, she still protected her, even if the reason for that protection might have been to avoid getting blood on her bedchamber.

She took a few steps forward, looking at Qu Weiyin, waiting for her to speak.

Qu Weiyin found this strange. She examined Luo Jinxiao again, then extended her long legs towards her, saying, “Massage.”

Luo Jinxiao responded with an “oh” and carefully placed her fingers on Qu Weiyin’s legs, gently massaging them.

After a while, Qu Weiyin suddenly spoke, “Did you not eat?”

Luo Jinxiao replied with another “oh” and increased the pressure of her hands. Qu Weiyin suddenly let out a small cry and retracted her legs, lifting her skirt and undergarments, revealing her smooth, white skin.

On the snow-white skin, two distinct handprints were clearly visible.

As Luo Jinxiao stared, she suddenly felt her ears burn and her heart race.

Immediately after, Qu Weiyin kicked out, striking Luo Jinxiao’s shoulder. Luo Jinxiao didn’t resist, stepping back and clutching her shoulder as she met Qu Weiyin’s gaze. Qu Weiyin’s eyes were watery, clearly from the pain of being squeezed too hard.

“Why are your hands so strong?” Qu Weiyin frowned and muttered softly.

“Come here and pour me some tea.” Qu Weiyin said sternly, sitting up and straightening her clothes. “If you can’t even pour tea, then pack up and leave tonight. I don’t keep useless people here.”

The word “useless” made both of them pause for a moment.

After a while, Luo Jinxiao silently stepped forward and poured her a cup of tea, placing it in her hand.

Qu Weiyin silently took a sip without saying anything. She put down the cup, but her eyes remained fixed on Luo Jinxiao. Luo Jinxiao felt uneasy under her gaze, yet she also wanted her to keep looking for a little longer.

“Have I seen you before?” Qu Weiyin suddenly asked. She stood up and took two steps forward, approaching Luo Jinxiao. Luo Jinxiao instinctively stepped back.

Hope flickered in her heart.

Qu Weiyin lifted her chin with her fingertips, then suddenly leaned closer, her breath warm against Luo Jinxiao’s ear, tickling her neck.

Luo Jinxiao couldn’t help but raise her hand, stopping just inches away from Qu Weiyin’s body.

Qu Weiyin seemed to be taking in her scent, but when she lifted her head, her expression remained unchanged.

Luo Jinxiao lowered her hand in disappointment. Honestly, she wished she could return to her original form right now, appear before Qu Weiyin, and demand to know if she remembered her.

But she didn’t dare. She was afraid that Qu Weiyin would not only fail to recognize her but also see her as an enemy.

She didn’t want to hurt her in the slightest.

Qu Weiyin lifted her head, moved away from Luo Jinxiao, and walked back to the bed, lying down again. With a wave of her hand, all the candles in the room were extinguished, leaving only one by the window, flickering faintly.

“Stay here and don’t let anyone in,” Qu Weiyin said.

Luo Jinxiao nodded silently. She sat on the floor, her eyes still able to see clearly in the dim light.

She could see the rise and fall of Qu Weiyin’s chest and her beautiful face. Just guarding her like this didn’t seem so bad.

Although the love of her life was within reach but untouchable, it made her heart ache.

There was no moonlight in the Demon Realm. Under the candlelight, the beautiful woman in red lay flat, breathing steadily, having fallen into slumber. Beside her, the ordinary woman in grey sat like a statue, silently watching her.

The scene was unexpectedly serene and beautiful.

After an unknown amount of time, Qu Weiyin’s breathing suddenly became heavy. She started tossing and turning, muttering in her sleep, her words unintelligible.

Luo Jinxiao sensed something was wrong and hurriedly stood up, reaching out to feel her forehead.

She must be having a nightmare again, Luo Jinxiao thought, her heart aching. How could it be that after so many years, even as the Demon Lord, she still had nightmares?

Qu Weiyin seemed to be having a terrible nightmare. She struggled in her sleep, her hand clenching the hard bed board. Small gasps mixed with sobs echoed in the silent night.

“Demon Lord, are you having a nightmare again?” Footsteps approached from outside the door, likely Qing Yi. Luo Jinxiao raised a hand, and the sound ceased.

Luo Jinxiao stepped forward and supported the back of Qu Weiyin’s neck, helping her sit up and holding her in her arms.

Tears streamed down the face of the woman leaning against her. She clenched her jaw tightly, a red mark flickering on her forehead.

Luo Jinxiao held her close, gently rocking her. A comforting, profound divine power emanated from her, slowly enveloping Qu Weiyin in a feeling of safety.

“I’m here. Don’t be afraid,” she whispered softly.
