Chapter 2: Help Me

Qu Weiyin’s expression was a mix of confusion and disbelief, as if she had never anticipated Luo Jinxiao would act this way. But as she came to her senses, her face flushed red with embarrassment and anger, and she snapped as she pushed Luo Jinxiao’s hand away, โ€œWhat did you just do?โ€

Even though Qu Weiyin had just woken up and was still weak, her casual words sent chills down Luo Jinxiao’s spine.

Merely meeting her gaze was enough to make Luo Jinxiao’s back break out in a cold sweat. She quickly stepped back and honestly replied, “I… I helped you neutralize the Gu.”

Qu Weiyin’s face flushed even redder, a flicker of shame crossing her features, quickly replaced by fury. She raised her hand again. “Even so, I cannot spare you.”

“Wait!” Luo Jinxiao jumped off the bed, knowing Qu Weiyin misunderstood. She hurriedly said, “I didn’t do anything to you,” she explained urgently, “I only used the method to counteract the Love Gu!”

Qu Weiyin let out a cold laugh, clearly running out of patience. Her narrow, phoenix eyes slightly lifted as she surveyed the room, her gaze deep and thoughtful, as if lost in thought.

Seizing the chance before Qu Weiyin could act, Luo Jinxiao widened her eyes, forcing out a few tears, and continued pleading earnestly, “Believe me, I was only trying to save you.”

Qu Weiyin glanced down at her with a disdainful expression. “You, save me?”

“The only way to neutralize the Love Gu is through that dirty act,” she stated coldly. “Even if there were another way, how could someone like you possibly know it?”

She had no desire to listen to Luo Jinxiao’s explanations any further. The light and shadows in her hand suddenly expanded, and before Luo Jinxiao could say another word, she hurriedly dodged to the side.

At that very moment, a sudden commotion came from the door. The previously firm seal vanished in an instant. Before she could fully dodge Qu Weiyin’s attack, a searing blast of energy hurtled towards her. Unable to hold back, she cried out for her mother.

Thankfully, even without her spiritual roots, her reflexes were still sharp. She immediately dropped to the ground. Two streams of energy collided above her, exploding with a loud crackle. Anything fragile in the room shattered and fell to the floor.

Groaning, Luo Jinxiao lay on the ground, patting herself to check for injuries before letting out a sigh of relief.

Holding her head, she peeked back and saw that Qu Weiyin seemed to have anticipated this, showing no surprise at all, her expression unchanged. She simply adjusted her robes to cover the glimpse of pale skin at her chest.

The intruder had their face covered, but judging by the power behind that last attack, he was undoubtedly a formidable opponent. They seemed to ignore Luo Jinxiao’s presence entirely, stepping right over her head and walking straight towards Qu Weiyin.

Luo Jinxiao had no desire to dwell on this humiliation. She remained curled up, hoping to disguise herself as nothing more than a decorative pillow on the floor.

Qu Weiyin remained perfectly still, leaning lazily against the bed, her eyes having returned to their normal color.

“With your current level of cultivation, it’s best not to resist,” the intruder suddenly spoke, their tone very familiar, as if they had known each other for a long time.

Qu Weiyin’s delicate brows twitched slightly, and she nodded in agreement.

Taking advantage of their distraction, Luo Jinxiao carefully pushed herself up from the ground and began to inch away.

It was clear that Qu Weiyin was on the verge of succumbing to her demonic impulses. Luo Jinxiao had to get out of there, fast. She made a run for the door, but was abruptly stopped by an invisible barrier, nearly sending her face-first into the ground.

Clutching her forehead, tears welling up from the pain, she wondered when that man had had the time to set up another seal.

Now, she was truly trapped. Luo Jinxiao stiffly turned around, observing Qu Weiyin while desperately searching for another means of escape.

She saw the man take out an object from his robe and toss it in front of Qu Weiyin. From a distance, it resembled an unfolded letter.

Qu Weiyin’s expression changed slightly upon seeing the letter. In an instant, Luo Jinxiao could clearly see her eyes shift color in anger.

The air grew heavy with killing intent. Luo Jinxiao, feeling helpless and with nowhere to escape, bit her lip. For some reason, she suddenly rushed forward, knocking the masked man aside.

Qu Weiyin looked at her in surprise. Then, a pair of warm, soft hands suddenly covered her eyes, blocking her vision completely.

At the same time, they both toppled backwards towards the bed. Qu Weiyin’s head hit the wall with a resounding thud.

She let out a soft groan, then lowered her voice and said with unbearable impatience, “Luo Jinxiao! What exactly are you trying to do?”

Luo Jinxiao quickly rolled off her, her face burning with embarrassment.

How could she possibly explain that she was afraid Qu Weiyin would go on a rampage after succumbing to her demonic impulses, so she covered her eyes?

“Nuisance.” The masked man glanced at Luo Jinxiao with annoyance, as if she were nothing more than an ant. With a flick of his wide sleeve, he sent a beam of light hurtling towards her.

A strong gust of wind accompanied the light. Luo Jinxiao’s heart sank as she instinctively threw herself back towards Qu Weiyin, as if clinging to a lifeline.

Even though the Demon Lord before her was known for her ruthlessness, she seemed almost pleasant compared to this unfamiliar man.

Qu Weiyin had been waiting for this moment. Seeing her chance, she suddenly flipped her right hand, which she had been hiding in her sleeve. A bright white light shot out, so strong and fast that Luo Jinxiao could barely see it.

The masked man threw up his hands in defense, a sword materializing out of thin air. However, it couldn’t block the attack and sent him crashing into the wall. He slid down, twitching, clearly having sustained serious internal injuries.

Luo Jinxiao drew in a sharp breath as she witnessed the gruesome scene. If that strike had hit her, she would have been shattered to pieces.

“Get off.” a low voice commanded from above. Only then did Luo Jinxiao realize she was practically sprawled on top of Qu Weiyin, her arms still wrapped tightly around the Demon Lord’s waist.

Luo Jinxiao sheepishly crawled off and withdrew her hands.

The Demon Lord might have been terrifying, but her body was surprisingly soft, she thought, trying to maintain a neutral expression.

Qu Weiyin moved slightly, a flicker of pain crossing her eyes before she silently sank back onto the bed.

“You,” she said, her voice low, “drag him out. He’s filthy.”

Luo Jinxiao didn’t dare disobey. She hurriedly jumped off the bed, grabbed the masked man’s leg, and dragged him to the door before stopping.

“Um, I can’t go out…” Luo Jinxiao said cautiously.

Being without spiritual roots was truly a miserable existence!

Qu Weiyin glanced at her indifferently. With a light flick of her fingertip, the seal at the door vanished without a trace.

“Useless,” Qu Weiyin said.

Upon hearing this, Luo Jinxiao couldn’t help but clench her fists. However, the memory of that last attack quickly sobered her, she quickly relaxed and continued dragging the man out.

After all, one must be flexible in life. She could always give this vicious Demon Lord a good thrashing once she regained her spiritual roots.

After throwing the man out, Luo Jinxiao sneakily peeked outside, only to hear Qu Weiyin’s slightly hoarse yet seductive voice coming from behind her: “Don’t even think about it. We’re surrounded. There’s nowhere for you to run.”

Luo Jinxiao hesitated for a moment before obediently walking back, once again standing before Qu Weiyin with her eyes downcast.

“Tell me, how do you want to die?” Qu Weiyin asked weakly, placing a hand on her chest as if enduring some great pain.

“I swear to the heavens, I didn’t do anything,” Luo Jinxiao immediately straightened her back and pointed to the sky, enunciating each word.

“I don’t care,” Qu Weiyin’s voice weakened with every word. It seemed that last attack had taken a toll on her. “I, Qu Weiyin, wish to have no further dealings with someone as useless as you.”

“Therefore, you must die.” Her eyes, under her long, dense lashes, flashed coldly.

Luo Jinxiao’s legs went weak, nearly kneeling on the spot.

But before she could say more, Qu Weiyin began to gasp for breath, her face pale except for her bright red lips, which lent her a fragile beauty, like a lone red plum blossom trembling in the winter wind.

It seemed she had temporarily given up on the idea of killing Luo Jinxiao. She picked up the letter that had been lying on the bed, stared at it for a long moment, then recited a spell, turning it into ashes.

Then, without warning, her body went limp, and she collapsed. Luo Jinxiao instinctively rushed forward, catching her by the shoulders.

“Are you okay…?”

But as soon as she touched Qu Weiyin’s warm skin, Luo Jinxiao regretted it. Of all the people to help, why did it have to be this Demon Lord?

However, in her weakened state, Qu Weiyin’s killing intent seemed to fade, and her shoulders trembled slightly. Standing so close, their bodies almost touching, Luo Jinxiao felt an unusual emotion stirring within her.

The overwhelming scent of blood that had clung to Qu Weiyin when they met in their past lives was gone, replaced by a faint, pleasant floral fragrance.

“Help me,” Qu Weiyin whispered. She slowly reached out and grasped Luo Jinxiao’s wrist.

Her hand was cool and slightly damp, mirroring the misty look in her eyes.

As if possessed, Luo Jinxiao nodded.

Qu Weiyin suddenly lowered her head. Luo Jinxiao winced, a sharp pain shooting through her wrist, but she bit back a cry.

She felt a soft sensation, like a small, wet creature, moving over the skin of her wrist, spreading a tingling sensation throughout her body.

She could feel her blood being drawn out. So, Qu Weiyin knew that blood could break the Love Gu, and the more, the faster it would work.

Although she had already helped neutralize the Gu earlier, truly recovering still required a significant amount of blood.

Time slowly passed. Luo Jinxiao’s arm had gone numb. She bit down on her lip, wondering if she would end up completely drained.

“Beauty, can you leave me a little?” she asked timidly.

Qu Weiyin’s movements stilled. A soft chuckle escaped her lips before she pulled away. Propping herself up on the bed, she looked up at Luo Jinxiao.

Her graceful shoulders and neck were fully exposed, the lines smooth as a painting, causing Luo Jinxiao to blush and look away.

“Thank you,” Qu Weiyin murmured, a hint of amusement in her voice. A trickle of blood escaped her lips, a shocking yet strangely alluring sight. “Your blood… it’s sweet.”

“Little waste, why are you blushing?” she teased, reaching out to wipe a smear of blood from the corner of her mouth.

Then, she gently brushed her bloodstained fingertip across Luo Jinxiao’s lips.
