Chapter 79: Dual Cultivation?

Cool lips pressed against her skin, and Qu Weiyin tilted her head back slightly, too shocked to move.

After a moment, the owner of those lips suddenly released her. Luo Jinxiao’s head slid down to Qu Weiyin’s shoulder, her body going limp as she slumped against her, motionless.

Qu Weiyin finally regained her composure and gently tapped the back of Luo Jinxiao’s head. “Hey.”

Luo Jinxiao was completely drunk, her head buried in the crook of Qu Weiyin’s neck, motionless.

The scene was surreal. Around the large table, those drinking had frozen, those eating found their food going cold. Nearby, disciples occasionally peeked from the side, only to be swatted back by their masters.

“Esteemed Elders, she’s drunk. I’ll take her away now,” Qu Weiyin finally spoke, her right hand clenched into a fist as she struggled to maintain her composure.

“Yes, yes, of course. How much did she drink? Quickly…” Elder He hastily interjected, forcing a dry laugh. “Come, let’s continue, continue.”

Qu Weiyin whisked Luo Jinxiao back to Hanyun Pavilion in a flash. She grabbed the nearly unconscious Luo Jinxiao, trying to help her onto the bed.

However, Luo Jinxiao refused to cooperate, her hands flailing around like an octopus. Annoyed, Qu Weiyin scooped her up and tossed her onto the bed. With a thud, Luo Jinxiao clutched the back of her head and finally opened her eyes.

“Here, take this. It will help you sober up.” Qu Weiyin took out a pill and stuffed it into Luo Jinxiao’s mouth.

“You can’t hold your liquor, yet you drank so much. Why are you so foolish?” Qu Weiyin said with a helpless expression, tidying up Luo Jinxiao’s messy hair.

Luo Jinxiao closed her eyes, seeming to have fallen asleep. Qu Weiyin relaxed her guard and sighed, wanting to cover her with the blanket. However, the world suddenly spun. Luo Jinxiao, who had just been lying obediently, had somehow shifted positions and was now pinning Qu Weiyin beneath her.

Qu Weiyin tried to struggle free, but Luo Jinxiao’s drunken strength was surprisingly formidable. Not only could she not break free, but her hands were also pinned above her head.

A mere use of spiritual energy would have sent the thoroughly drunk Luo Jinxiao flying out of the room, but Qu Weiyin hesitated. Instead, she relaxed, allowing Luo Jinxiao to remain on top of her.

“Why are you ignoring me?” Luo Jinxiao mumbled, her words slurred.

Qu Weiyin remained silent, gazing at Luo Jinxiao with moist eyes full of tenderness.

Seeing no response, Luo Jinxiao suddenly lowered her head, pressing her lips against Qu Weiyin’s, sealing off her breath in an unyielding kiss.

The room was filled with a warm tension, the only sound being their intertwined breaths, casting a haze of intimacy even over the cold jade table.

Qu Weiyin didn’t struggle or resist, even though Luo Jinxiao was so drunk that she couldn’t quite find her target, her kisses rough and almost drawing blood from Qu Weiyin’s delicate lips.

Even so, Qu Weiyin found herself flustered, her breath coming in short gasps. When Luo Jinxiao looked at her again, she found Qu Weiyin’s lashes damp, her eyes soft and alluring.

“I only want you not to push me away. I will take responsibility for everything else,” Luo Jinxiao said, forcing her eyes open. She released Qu Weiyin, her fingers lightly touching Qu Weiyin’s bleeding lip, afraid to apply any pressure.

“You’re afraid. You don’t trust me, I know. I know what you’re thinking. I will become strong. One day, I will make sure no one in this world dares to bully or humiliate you.”

“Just open the door a crack for me. Whether you’re a demon, a human, an immortal, or a god, I’m determined to walk through it,” Luo Jinxiao murmured, her hand moving from Qu Weiyin’s lips to her cheek, then down to her neck.

Qu Weiyin stared intently into Luo Jinxiao’s eyes as she spoke, unable to suppress a shiver.

“I trust you,” she said.

At that moment, Luo Jinxiao finally succumbed to exhaustion. Her hands went limp, and she collapsed onto Qu Weiyin with a snore, fast asleep.

Qu Weiyin remained still for a long while. She felt her heart soften, unable to harden it again after Luo Jinxiao’s kiss.

She lowered her now-numb hands, gently embracing Luo Jinxiao and patting her thin back rhythmically.

“You said, whether I’m a demon, an immortal, or a god, you wouldn’t regret it?” she murmured.

The next day, in the disciple’s quarters.

Luo Jinxiao was huddled under the covers, hugging her knees tightly, her hair a mess, staring blankly at the bowl of porridge in front of her.

“Did I really kiss Junior Shishu in front of everyone yesterday?” Luo Jinxiao asked hoarsely.

Lu Fanzhi, who was sitting beside her, rolled her eyes and added a spoonful of sugar to her porridge. “You’ve asked eight times already. You didn’t just kiss Junior Shishu Qu in public, you also called Elder Liu a grumpy old man in front of everyone.”

“Yeah, I’d advise you to avoid Elder Liu for a while. I heard he’s talking about tying you to a jade pillar and leaving you in the sun for eighty-one days straight,” Yan Ying added, leaning against the door.

“I used to think you were just a useless good-for-nothing, but after this incident, I, Yan Ying, have changed my opinion of you somewhat,” Yan Ying nodded. “Now I just think you’re a good-for-nothing.”

Luo Jinxiao was in no mood to bicker with her. She wailed and buried her head in her knees.

When she woke up this morning, she was in Qu Weiyin’s bed, the room empty, and her clothes had been changed into clean ones.

She remembered everything that happened last night and wished she could find a hole to crawl into and never come out.

“What should I do? I don’t dare face see Junior Shishu again. I think she might kill me,” Luo Jinxiao said, her eyes vacant and voice hollow.

“You’d better avoid everyone. Didn’t you notice that there’s no one in the rooms today? They’re all eavesdropping at the door,” Lu Fanzhi said, pulling Yan Ying away and opening the door. Two people tumbled in, while the rest scattered like birds.

The two were brothers, Baili Qingzhou and Baili Xiao. After falling through the door, they chuckled sheepishly and ran away.

After making sure no one was around, Lu Fanzhi closed the door with a pained expression. Look, if you’re going to make a move, at least pick your moment! In front of everyone, with all the sect leaders present, you openly kissed your own Shishu? Junior Shishu Qu is of the same generation as Elder Liu. The fact that you weren’t expelled from the Wuhui Sect is already a sign of their great mercy!”

“I know, I know. You don’t have to say it,” Luo Jinxiao covered her face.

Someone knocked lightly on the door and said in a stern voice, “Elder Liu requests Luo Jinxiao’s presence.”

Luo Jinxiao panicked immediately. She jumped off the bed, told Lu Fanzhi to say she wasn’t there, and then escaped through the back window.

Luo Jinxiao covered her face with a veil and slipped into the crowd, noticing that every passing disciple was discussing the incident at the banquet yesterday.

Some even gathered together, forcefully filling in the details for those who weren’t present.

She avoided the crowded areas, entered the flower garden, and went straight to the Tianluo Pavilion, knocking on the Sect Leader’s door.

The bamboo door opened, revealing an elderly woman whose wrinkled face blossomed into a smile at the sight of Luo Jinxiao. “Miss Luo, come in! Let me brew you some tea. The Sect Leader collected the dew herself this morning – it’s delightfully sweet.”

“Thank you, Granny,” Luo Jinxiao replied with a sweet smile.

As she made her way inside, flower petals carpeted the ground. The Sect Leader stood beneath a flowering tree in the courtyard, draped in a snow-white cloak that accentuated her tall, slender frame.

Today, her white hair was tied back, giving her a more spirited appearance.

“Sect Leader!” Luo Jinxiao strode over.

The Sect Leader’s lips curved into a slight smile upon seeing her. She shook her head, chuckling, “Have you come here to hide from the commotion?”

“No, I just came to see you,” Luo Jinxiao scratched her head.

“I’ve heard about what happened yesterday.”

Luo Jinxiao blushed and sat down at the bamboo platform, pouting. “I was drunk. Who knew it would turn out like that…”

“Even drunk, it reveals your true feelings,” the Sect Leader shook her head, her clear eyes sparkling with laughter. She slowly sat down and personally poured Luo Jinxiao a cup of tea.

“To be honest with you, I’m here to hide from my master. He wants to tie me to a pillar and leave me to bake in the sun for eighty-one days,” Luo Jinxiao said with a gloomy expression.

“As he should,” the Sect Leader laughed.

After sitting for a while, Luo Jinxiao spoke again. “Sect Leader, could you teach me the cultivation technique you showed me last time again? I’ve been neglecting my practice these past few days, and I feel like my spiritual energy isn’t growing as fast as it did on Southern Peak.”

“That’s to be expected. Southern Peak is rich in spiritual energy and bitterly cold, perfect for rapid cultivation. Even among your peers, you’re already far ahead. Don’t be too impatient – rushing these things can lead to deviation,” the Sect Leader advised gently.

“I know, but…” Luo Jinxiao’s eyes were fixed on the teacup in her hands, a hint of dejection in her expression.

“It’s because of Qu Weiyin, isn’t it?” the Sect Leader said.

Luo Jinxiao didn’t answer, just kept turning the cup in her hands.

The Sect Leader seemed to have something to say, but after hesitating for a moment, she remained silent. She just looked at Luo Jinxiao with a worried expression.

“Very well, I’ll help you cultivate,” the Sect Leader said.

“Thank you, Sect Leader,” Luo Jinxiao’s face lit up. She quickly sat cross-legged, fingers pressed together at her chest.

Qiongqi jumped out of her pouch, transformed into a human form, and sat down with her, legs crossed.

“Your spiritual roots… they seem a bit odd,” the Sect Leader suddenly opened her eyes and said with a puzzled expression.

“There seems to be a peculiar energy. Have you experienced anything unusual these past few days?”

Luo Jinxiao opened her eyes as well. After a moment of hesitation, she told the Sect Leader everything that had happened in the Changming Pagoda.

After listening, the Sect Leader’s eyebrows, reminiscent of distant mountains, furrowed slightly. She shook her head, “I’m not sure what it could be. Have you felt any discomfort lately?”

“No,” Luo Jinxiao shook her head. “I thought it might be some kind of cultivation deviation, but it doesn’t seem to be causing any problems.”

The Sect Leader gave her a disapproving look. “Don’t joke about such things. Cultivation deviation is far more terrifying than you imagine. If this happens again, remember to come to me immediately.”

Luo Jinxiao stuck out her tongue and nodded in agreement.

“Sect Leader, are there any faster cultivation methods? I can endure hardship. My cultivation hasn’t reached the Tribulation Transcendence stage yet, and I’m worried that it won’t be enough if something major happens to the sect in the future.”

The Sect Leader was almost amused by her eagerness. She shook her head. “I’ve never seen anyone so impatient. You’re still young and have achieved such a high level of cultivation, yet you’re still not satisfied. To rapidly increase your cultivation, you either need a special opportunity or dual cultivation, but neither is a long-term solution. Just be patient and cultivate steadily.”

Qiongqi, who was sitting beside them, seemed tired. She stood up and left the room.

“You’re just a disciple who has been training for a little over five years. Even if something happens in the future, you don’t need to step forward. We have the elders and me. Even if the sky falls, it won’t hit you.”

Luo Jinxiao’s expression dimmed slightly.

“But I want to protect you all. I don’t want to always hide behind others.”

I want to protect Qu Weiyin.

Meanwhile, at the Hanyun Pavilion.

A scroll depicting a magnificent landscape was spread out in front of Qu Weiyin. A golden light was swirling around her, gradually dimming before being enveloped by a black energy. The gold and black intertwined and mixed, inseparable.

Her long hair was tied up, a simple hairpin holding it in place. Sweat trickled down her smooth cheeks and dripped onto the floor.

Suddenly, her closed eyes twitched, her eyelashes fluttering. She lurched forward, knocking over a nearby vase. Bright red hibiscus flowers scattered across the floor, rolling a considerable distance.

Qu Weiyin supported herself with her hand, her delicate shoulders slumped as she clutched her chest.

This Shan He Tu evil demonic cultivation technique truly wasn’t something ordinary people could cultivate. Just in this short while, she already felt her mood becoming agitated and difficult to calm.

It was fortunate that she had set up a barrier beforehand. Otherwise, if this demonic energy rose into the sky, wouldn’t it summon cultivators within a hundred miles, who would then attack her as a demonic creature?

Qu Weiyin’s phoenix eyes turned cold, and she let out a cold snort.

The door suddenly opened, and someone cautiously walked in, standing before Qu Weiyin with a rather aggrieved expression.

A flash of joy crossed Qu Weiyin’s heart. She looked up, only to find it was Qiongqi, not Luo Jinxiao.

Luo Jinxiao had disappeared early in the morning and hadn’t been seen all day. Qu Weiyin’s mood suddenly plummeted, but she still managed a smile at Qiongqi. “Why are you here? Where’s Luo Jinxiao?”

Qiongqi pointed at her deflated belly and said in a childish voice, “Hungry.”

“Didn’t she give you anything to eat?”

Qiongqi shook her head, her expression filled with indignation.

After her breathing stabilized, Qu Weiyin put away the Shan He Tu painting, gestured for Qiongqi to sit down, and summoned her sword spirit, instructing her to go fetch some food.

After the grumbling sword spirit left, Qu Weiyin slowly spoke. “Where’s Luo Jinxiao?”

Qiongqi’s mood was sour due to his hunger. She slumped on the table and said dejectedly, “Sect Leader.”

So she went to the Sect Leader. Qu Weiyin thought, lowering her head.

She ignored the twinge of unease in her heart, picked up a cup of tea, and took a small sip.

Qiongqi thought for a moment, then suddenly blurted out, “Dual cultivation.”

Qu Weiyin choked on her tea. She covered her mouth, coughing violently before asking in shock, “Luo Jinxiao and… the Sect Leader?”

“Just the two of them?”

Qiongqi thought for a moment longer, then nodded.
