Chapter 80: Find Me

Qu Weiyin set down her teacup, her heart suddenly pounding like a drum. She couldn’t calm down, and a surge of anger welled up inside her, worsening her inner turmoil.

“Has she lost her mind?” Qu Weiyin snapped. She wanted to question Qiongqi further, but faced with her innocent expression focused solely on food, she found herself unable to ask after a long pause.

“Wait here for a moment. I need to rest,” Qu Weiyin said, forcing herself to appear calm. She stood up and entered the inner room, sitting down on the bed.

The bed was neat and clean, seemingly still carrying the faint scent of Luo Jinxiao.

Qu Weiyin sat there blankly for a while. She couldn’t believe that Luo Jinxiao, who had spoken those words to her just yesterday, would go and engage in dual cultivation with someone else today.

Moreover, dual cultivation was strictly forbidden in the Wuhui Sect.

But if it was with the Sect Leader, no prohibition would matter.

Did Luo Jinxiao really have the nerve? Could she be foolish enough to… for the sake of improving her cultivation?

Qu Weiyin gripped the edge of the bed tightly, suddenly unsure if Luo Jinxiao might actually be that reckless.

I must have lost my mind, Qu Weiyin thought.

Could it be that Luo Jinxiao woke up and regretted everything?

Qu Weiyin sat there, restless and unable to focus on cultivation or anything else. Luo Jinxiao’s face kept appearing in her mind, refusing to fade away.

“I have to go and see for myself. What if that fool has been tricked?” Qu Weiyin muttered to herself. She quickly walked out of the room, her figure transforming into a golden light and disappearing.

Qiongqi twisted her head to watch Qu Weiyin leave, her small face crumpling in frustration. Her meal had flown away again.

Starving and unable to eat humans, Qiongqi grew increasingly irritable. It wandered out again, thinking of foraging in the mountains.

Along the way, many disciples smiled warmly at her, finding her adorable, and even patted her head. But in Qiongqi’s eyes, these people were all just meat on a plate, their scent making his mouth water.

But if she ate them, her master would be angry.

So Qiongqi struggled between the urge to eat humans and the need to resist, growing dizzy with hunger. Suddenly, a soft white hand appeared before it, and Qiongqi instinctively bit down hard.

The owner of the hand let out a piercing scream, quickly pulling it back and cradling it in her arms. “Are you trying to eat me?! You bit so hard!”

It was Tang Lan’er. She nursed her delicate hand, unused to any hardship, tears welling up from the pain.

“Aren’t you that little girl who follows Luo Jinxiao around? Did she abandon you?” Tang Lan’er had been furious ever since witnessing Luo Jinxiao kiss Qu Weiyin, and the mere mention of her name now filled her with rage.

“So hungry,” Qiongqi’s round eyes drooped, looking utterly pitiful.

“Starve then,” Tang Lan’er turned and walked away.

Qiongqi frowned. The scent of humans was simply too tempting. She hadn’t tasted human flesh in years, and the smell now made her mouth water uncontrollably.

Tang Lan’er hadn’t taken two steps when she felt a sharp pain in her shoulder. She screamed loudly, startling a flock of birds.

She turned around to see Qiongqi baring her teeth and biting into her shoulder, her entire body hanging onto her.

“Are you really going to eat me?! Get off! I’ll take you to eat meat, alright?! I’ll take you to eat meat!” Tang Lan’er cried out in pain, finally managing to pull Qiongqi off.

“You and Luo Jinxiao are going to be the death of me,” she said, wiping away her tears.

Meanwhile, Qu Weiyin descended from the sky, flower petals swirling around her as she landed gracefully.

Her heart racing, she slowly approached the bamboo door. She hesitated for a long while before finally knocking gently on the frame.

There was no response to her first knock. On the second try, the bamboo door slowly opened, revealing the elderly woman with her kind smile.

“Miss Qu, are you looking for the Sect Leader?” the old woman asked, her voice trembling slightly.

Qu Weiyin hummed in response, then asked, “Is Luo Jinxiao here?”

“Yes, she is. But they are currently cultivating and cannot be disturbed. The Sect Leader may not be available to see you right now. Would you like to come in and wait for a moment?” the old woman offered.

Upon hearing this, Qu Weiyin felt a sharp pang in her heart, a heavy weight settling in her chest. She initially wanted to go in and see for herself, but as she took a step forward, she faltered.

“No need. When Luo Jinxiao comes out, tell her I came looking for her,” Qu Weiyin said, turning to leave.

Halfway down the path, she added, “Actually, don’t tell her.”

The old woman watched her retreating figure from the doorway, feeling a pang of pity for the lone figure walking amidst the falling petals, looking so thin and fragile.

Qu Weiyin didn’t know where she was going. She left the flower garden and walked further into the mountains, wandering aimlessly.

She summoned her Crescent Star Sword and swung it fiercely at a tree blocking her path, cutting it down at the roots. Then, withdrawing her spiritual energy, she struck another tree. Two loud crashes echoed through the air, dust swirling around her.

Only then did Qu Weiyin lower her head, hiding the tears streaking down her face.

“Do you blame me?” she whispered to herself.

Now that Luo Jinxiao had truly left, she felt a profound sadness, a pain that gnawed at her. The image of Luo Jinxiao and the Sect Leader together seared itself into her mind, fueling a burning rage within her.

Qu Weiyin stood amidst the wreckage for a while, lost in thought. Suddenly, a sharp pain pierced her chest, and she doubled over, coughing up a mouthful of blood. The metallic taste filled her mouth, and the demonic energy within her surged uncontrollably.

Meanwhile, Luo Jinxiao remained oblivious to what had transpired. She had been cultivating for a day and night with the Sect Leader’s help. As the silvery light of her cultivation merged with the dawn’s glow, growing dazzlingly bright, she finally lowered her hands, feeling refreshed.

“Thank you, Sect Leader,” she said with a radiant smile, rolling up her sleeves to expose her pale arms to the cool air.

“Miss Luo is truly a cultivation prodigy. In just one night, you’ve almost reached the breakthrough point for the Tribulation Transcendence stage,” the old woman said, handing her a bowl of tea, her eyes filled with affection.

“That’s also thanks to the Sect Leader’s excellent guidance,” Luo Jinxiao said modestly, raising her head to drink the tea.

“Would you like something to eat?” the Sect Leader asked softly. Since Luo Jinxiao’s arrival, the coldness and detachment that usually surrounded her had lessened, replaced by a touch of worldly warmth.

Therefore, the old woman was happy to see Luo Jinxiao spend time with the Sect Leader.

“No need. I’ve already entered the Grain avoidance stage,” Luo Jinxiao replied.

“Even so, you can still enjoy food. The joy of good food is incomparable,” the Sect Leader chuckled softly, waving her hand to signal the old woman to bring a plate of pastries.

Luo Jinxiao paused, realizing that these were words Zhao Zhao must have said before. She didn’t refuse, happily taking a bite and saying with a bright smile, “Delicious.”

After lingering at the Sect Leader’s place for a while longer, Luo Jinxiao figured that Elder Liu’s anger should have subsided and took her leave. As the old woman saw her out, she couldn’t help but pull her aside and whisper, “Yesterday, Miss Qu came looking for you.”

“Junior Shishu came here looking for me?” Luo Jinxiao’s expression turned panicked. “She wasn’t here to beat me up, was she?”

“No, she was very calm, but also a bit strange. She seemed quite sad when she left,” the old woman shook her head and sighed.

Why was Qu Weiyin sad? Was it because of me? Luo Jinxiao was momentarily stunned, worry creeping into her heart.

“Thank you, Granny. I’ll be going now,” she waved goodbye and hurried off, her figure disappearing amidst the swirling flower petals.

The old woman looked up at the nearly transparent pink and white petals in the sunlight, her frail body slowly moving deeper into the woods.

“I need to water them more. The Sect Leader loves these flowers so much…”

Luo Jinxiao flew to the Hanyun Pavilion on her sword, searching everywhere but finding no trace of Qu Weiyin. Her anxiety grew with each passing moment. She searched throughout the Wuhui Sect, asking everyone she encountered, but no one had seen Qu Weiyin.

She could only wander aimlessly around Mount Wuhui, but Qu Weiyin’s aura was nowhere to be found. She even went to Southern Peak, but it was deserted and freezing cold.

Luo Jinxiao grew increasingly anxious, unable to understand what could have happened to Qu Weiyin. Wasn’t everything normal just last night?

Luo Jinxiao even enlisted Lu Fanzhi and the others to help with the search, but there was still no sign of Qu Weiyin. As evening approached, they gathered once more at the main gate of the Wuhui Sect, each shaking their heads in defeat.

“Luo Jinxiao, that night, you really just kissed Junior Shishu Qu and didn’t do anything else?” Yan Ying asked.

“What else could I have done?” Luo Jinxiao retorted angrily. She pressed a hand to her forehead, her mind racing as she tried to think of places Qu Weiyin might have gone.

โ€œWho knows? Maybe you did something terrible to make Junior Shishu Qu hide from you like this.”

“Yan Ying, stop talking nonsense!” Luo Ning interrupted, glaring at her.

“Since we’ve searched the entire Wuhui Sect, and it’s unlikely Junior Shishu Qu would leave at a time like this, she’s most likely in the mountains. But where in Mount Wuhui could someone hide?” Lu Fanzhi pondered.

Where in the mountains could someone hide? Luo Jinxiao furrowed her brow in thought. Suddenly, it dawned on her. Without a word, she turned and ran towards the mountains.

The mountain forest was shrouded in the darkness of dusk, yet the air was dry and cool. Creatures scurried through the undergrowth, their rustling sounds filling the air.

Luo Jinxiao stumbled through a wide ravine below a cliff, coming upon two trees cleanly cut down, clearly the work of a divine sword.

Her heartbeat quickened. She made her way to a nearby patch of grass, her skirt billowing around her as she transformed into a beam of light and flew into a hidden cave.

Familiar rocks and underground currents greeted her. The shadows within the cave were deep, obscuring the stunted trees, but the flowers on those trees still bloomed, emitting a silvery-white light like miniature moons, casting a soft glow throughout the cavern.

And in the corner of the cave, a flash of red caught her eye.

Luo Jinxiao’s heart skipped a beat. She rushed over and, sure enough, found Qu Weiyin lying on her side. Her snow-white arms contrasted sharply with the black rocks, making them appear even more delicate. Several bright red scratches on her skin were alarming to see.

Luo Jinxiao lifted her from the ground, cradling her in her arms. When she reached out to check Qu Weiyin’s spiritual roots, she was almost repelled by demonic energy.

“How could this happen?” Luo Jinxiao was frantic. She silently recited a spell, channeling her spiritual energy into Qu Weiyin’s body, soothing her internal injuries.

After an unknown amount of time, Qu Weiyin finally opened her eyes. Her captivating phoenix eyes flickered between shades of dark and light.

Luo Jinxiao was startled. Before she could react, Qu Weiyin pushed her away, struggling to distance herself. Leaning on her sword, she asked in a hoarse voice, “Where did you go?”

The harsh voice held a distinct tremor of suppressed sobs.

Luo Jinxiao was completely bewildered. With wide, innocent eyes, she stammered, “I… I didn’t go anywhere.”

“Liar,” Qu Weiyin accused.

“I was with the Sect Leader the entire time. I truly didn’t go anywhere else,” Luo Jinxiao insisted, raising her hands in a gesture of surrender.

“I know,” Qu Weiyin said weakly, lowering her gaze. She then used her sword to help herself stand. “Are you… satisfied?”

“What exactly happened? I really don’t understand,” Luo Jinxiao felt overwhelmed, as if her head were about to explode. She felt tears welling up, frustrated that she couldn’t explain herself clearly.

Qu Weiyin stared intently at her, her eyes filled with anger that slowly morphed into a desolate loneliness.

Tears brimmed in her eyes, spilling down her cheeks, tracing paths through the lingering bloodstains. It was a picture of heartbreaking beauty, yet the aura surrounding her was terrifying.

She suddenly spoke, “I know… this is what I deserve.”

“But if you truly wanted to… to use that technique for cultivation, you could have come to me.”

“Why did you have to go to someone else, Luo Jinxiao?” she said softly, her tears suddenly flowing like a broken dam. Her entire body ached to the core, her mind in chaos, her eyes fixed only on the person before her.
